Ok,

I am really, really pissed......

My tranny is broken AGAIN!!

The reverse fork is broken..

I can here it come into place when I shift into 5th, so reverse is blocked out.

So I was I was driving down the street, went to downshift, I felt the shifter start to slide down. I get to the parking lot, put it in 5th, then go straight to reverse, it did it, it shouldn't have, it's not supposed too..... and I didn't hear the lockout when I shifted into 5th.

The car was 6 months old on Feb 27, I am just soooooo pissed right now, but working on maintaining my rage..

I heard it this afternoon, when I left school, this is all I need, and no, I don't have my short shifter installed (never did, they scared the s*** out of me, I just want to put it in so bad..)

I am soo pissed, they are gonna try and blame me, this thing shouldn't break, all they probably did last time was weld it onto the broken one I bet.

it shouldnt do that but thats what warranty is for... and if they do blame u tell them to go **** themselves and fix the god damn thing... warranty covers it end of story... that shouldnt happen... they must have made ur car on a friday... heheh sorry trying to be funny... but ya thats so weird... u shold get just a new tranny... well warranty should get u a new tranny

Ask them how they fixed it last time. Did they rebuild the original tranny or just replace the broken part? If you just replace the broken part then what caused the problem in the first place may not of been fixed. If they rebuilt the tranny then you should have been given the old parts or at least shown them. This time when they fix it ask them to see the old parts, thats a legal right you have to make sure they actually replace the part. By the way they have to at least fix the tranny under the warranty of the original repair.

I went in this morning to the dealership, and the service manager said the following. that Mazda gave him a hard time and that they believed that I did it because I could be racing the car, but then Mazda has to prove this, and there are people on this board that race there cars and never have problems like this, I just drive fast. He intends to replace the whole tranny this time, if he tells Mazda it's the same problem, they will blame it on me, as they replaced the part. I suggested that it maybe something else, like another part that is deffective, he says he doubts it. This car has 27-28000 km on it, and not my first standard car either. He said you really have to push hard on it to break, and that they have never heard of it happening. I will find out this afternoon as to what is happening. I have also began to do research as to my legal recourse if needed, as there is an arbitrator here in ontario, so no need to go to court.

About being built on a Friday, well, I don't think in Japan they have the same problem as here, very different work ethic.

WTF,

Now they are saying that it's potentially my fault, how could it happen again.

They haven't opened the transmission, they say that I am laying really hard on it..

I know how to drive standard, this is not my first standard car.

They are saying that after they repair it, they may want me to sign a form to disolve them of any responsibility. That is messed up..

I don't even have 30,000 km on this thing..

It's their bad mazda parts. I would have them fix it, then refuse to sign the disolve.

I would go apeshit. Don't let them push you around. It is obviously not your fault. If you miss shifed or something the computer will tell that, but there is clearly a mechanical failure so they simply must replace the parts. You could always get a 2nd opinion from another dealer. Such cock gobblers, hate dealerships!!!!

To say that you layed really hard on it is incredibaly idiotic. When I race my civic I slam through the gears and don't brake anything as do many other racers. If they haven't opened it up yet how can they tell? Don't sign the paper no matter what. They can't do that cause they have to warranty the work, which is what this should be under if not the original warranty. I still believe that there might something causing this to happen and not the actual part. Pluss how the hell does leaning on it or racing it destroy the fork for reverse. Leaning on it, he must think your having sex in your front seat every lunch hour at work with a 400 pound woman who likes the feel of the shifter. Idiots. Mazda can't say s*** cause they are talking to the mechanic at the dealership, he's the one who knows the shape of the car. Mazda has to come out to the dealership and look at it themselves, not determine over the phone like a HMO.

write a letter to the bbb in your area or to mazda north america hq...also write a tv station in your area about misleading advertising and unwillingness to back warranties based upon what they advertise the car for

mazda dealer has some of the biggest crooks i've seen and they won't cover anything under warranty unless you create a big hassle (same prob with fords i hear...costs less to fix nothing = greater profit)

my tranny was already acting up at 3k miles...i was thinking of getting an msp tranny but may just say screw it with this car and sell it for something more reliable and not have to go back to the only local mazda stealership

Still waiting to hear from the guy my service manager reports to as what's going to happen..

I hate this waiting s***..

Mazda has denied my claim for warranty work.

They claim that I am causing abuse to the car.

I called Mazda Canada, and they said that the decision was made and that is that.

Looks like I may be selling this car. I am going to talk to my mechanic tomorrow, and try to go through arbitration (we have a special arbitration board up here for these things) but I have this bitter taste in my mouth, and I really don't feel good about Mazda.

It's talk like this that makes me regret buying a Mazda. After a year or two if the Mazda holds up, it's back to Honda (well...Acura) for me.

Well,

I am going to have to go to arbitration.

They said they fixed it the first time as giving me the benefit of the doubt, and now, they won't saying it's not a manufacturers defect, and they won't even open the transmission, cust service is useless up here.

Arbitration is actually pretty quick, it's like 90 days, and well, good thing the car is still drivable, the tranny does work fine.

The arbitration also covers getting the tranny inspected at a reputable place of my choice, and I have a good mechanic I can trust.

Mazda left a bitter taste in my mouth, I am very disappointed, I love this car, but I get pissed when I drive it because of this. Now this car is making my neon look good, and that is really sad..

My mom had to do this for her 4runner for the tires, the manufacturers are real asses..

More to come!

Email me with what is going on and who you talked to with thier phone #'s. I'm just very curious.
This is up here in Canada, the only #'s I have are the dealership, and Cust. service.

U can get the number for corporate in your manual. Also canada might have different legal recourses regarding this sort of thing. They might not have the protection we have and litigation might be more difficult and costly. good luck.... with your mods i think it would be impossible to destroy the tranny in that way especially.

Either

1: lots of people on this forum drive like dumbasses and slam the gears so hard they bend the shift forks.

2: Something is seriously wrong with the newer G-series transmission design. the forks are weaker or something.,

I have a MX3 with the same series transmission you have and I know of NO one who has this problem with their transmission, either on MX3.com or probetalk.com. Maybe swapping a 4 cyl tranny from one of those cars would work better than just taking it back to the dealership and bitching at them all the time. If the newer tranny's are in fact a POS design, replacing it isn't going to help you at all.

Either that, or learn how to shift without slamming it into gear. Slamming it into gear doesn't help anything. Professional drag racers / drivers don't slam their shifters into gear so why do you?
