Tranny Recall Petition!!!

I have 7,500 miles on my MP3 and had no problems with my tranny(knock on wood), but I will definitely want my name down on the petiton.

Count me in! I had experiences that my local Mazda dealer did not know what I meant when I told them the bushing and windshield problems. They actually had to follow what I pinted out from HERE to figure out what to do! I think it's not totally their fault since we have only 1500 MP3s. But we are still Mazda's customers. So I think we should gather up and let Mazda knows they have 1500 MP3s out there on streets. I also have 1st to 2nd gear problem when in high RPM. By the way, my clutch gets some annoying "click" sound when I step it. No matter which angel I tried, still has that clunky sound. Anybody?

This petition is to hereby request a formal international recall investigation of the model year 2000 through the current model year of the Mazda Protg sedan, Mazda MP3, and Mazda Protg 5 hatchback. The recall investigation should concentrate on accusations of the faulty transmission in the MP3 which has the G5M-R transmission and the G15M-R transmissions found in the Protg ES sedan's and the Protg 5's w/ manual transmissions. The failure of this part while driving can cause loss of vehicle control and/or lead to involvement in a serious accident.

At the conclusion of the Investigation, if there is enough evidence found to warrent a recall the undersigned would like to see Mazda Motor Co. LTD replace all faulty units in the models specified.

By signing this petition all the undersigned do agree with the above made statements and do hereby formally request to be notified of any action undertaken by either the National Highway Traffic Safety Board or by Mazda Motor Co. LTD

If there was a need to do a recall, they would do one anyway...

Remember the cost analysis involved there.

I would possibly add some of the evidence that you have.

You know, saying there have been an x number of transmission failures over the past y number years in so many cars. Also put what kind of failures they were, eg. shift forks, syncros, etc...

Hello everyone,

If I am not so busy with my work and school, I would be more than happy to write the petition. I graduated with a Criminal Justice degree with a concentration in Law, currently in Graduate school studying Criminal Justice/ Corrections/ minor in civil law, and currently working a part-time job as a paralegal.

First of all Mazda is a well respected corp. that sold over millions of qaulity cars since they came to existance. Writing this petition to them should be more than what we have now. If not, then they will just read the letter like how all the letters they get from mad customers.

Inorder to have an impact on Mazda we need to target their corporation and need to know who to complain to. I read the petition and it is very well writen, but we need one more thing that will have or make the petition more powerful. We need proof that if the transmission breaks down on us while in or out of gear, we as customers 'WILL' get hurt or cause death.

We would have to do more research on this issue of accidents, finding out approximately how many accidents in the past (2001 - 2003)that the cause of the accident is link to transmission, and what kind of injuries occured. We need to prove on letter that the accident is the cause of the transmission (meaning gears exploding, shifting, ect...anything transmission related) . We need to be direct, not vague.

I know that this sounds harder than it is, but if we can get these questions answered, we will have a big impact on Mazda Corp. and they will do something about the complaint.

If there is anything I could do please let me know. I'm pretty busy with both work and school but I'll try to help as much as I can. Thank you all for reading this reply.

I started this thread just to see "How many" people were having problems that would be willing to go the extra mile to try and get something done about it.

Thanks 905MP3 for your response, it has made me think of just how unprepared we are. We need to step back and think this through thouroghly before we send anything like this off to a company as Powerful as Mazda.

Lets start with the accidents...I am not sure if any have actually occured that are directly related to the transmission. We need to do ALOT more research on this subject. I know in my case the tranny didn't cause any damage to anything but my motor and even that has not been proven, so right now all we have is speculation.

We need to find out if this is a problem in the MP3 "ONLY", and if so then lets find out just how many are having problems and what kind of problems are they having.
If it is not just an MP3 related problem then we need to find out if it is a specific type of transmission or maybe even a specific part "in" the transmission that is failing.

So needless to say there is quite a bit of research to do on this subject, but if we can get all the information gathered it would be GREAT if you(905MP3) could find the time to write this petition. We need someone with your background to make it as professional sounding as possible.

I have read what you wrote (petition), and it sounds fine. If you guys do want me to write the petition, it will take a while to get it done because as of right now, I have many task to do. I think that since MP3-Owner, already started with the petition, I'll proof-read what you will write and when it is done we could send it to Mazda corp.

In the mean time I'll ask one of my friends, he's second year Law student, for more advise on what to exspect from Mazda.

If this goes accordling to plan it's going to be a big case.

Ok, since I'm not so well versed in the whole transmission part of cars, would this problem be described by an instance like this...you're rolling along in second, around 3000 or so rpm maybe less, and you let off the gas, and you feel like you car is attempting to give you whiplash by herking and jerking back and forth? (stupid)
