Tranny problems

I recently discovered that my tranny likes to pop me back out of third gear, especially under acceleration. Took it to the dealer today, just wondering if anyone else has had these problems?

unfortunatly, i just talked to the mazda guys and they said the third gear syncro was bad. And they're going to charge me $300 just to open the tranny. So who knows whats gonna happen. I'm just hoping they're not gonna charge me more for this crap.

Are you not under warranty?
The answer to that question, guessing by the year of your car, is YES.

WHY does no one ever take their car in under warranty? This is COVERED. I had the exact same fix done to mine.

I have had this same problem, but only occasionally. Looks like I'm making a trip to the stealership and I'm gonna be one pissed off person if they try to charge me anything.

I talked to the guy again and he said the clutch is shot. I've got 15k miles on the thing there is no way its shot. Anyway Everything should be covered underwarrenty. He's giving me some excessive wear and tear crap. But i will deffinatly not be paying for this stuff. Thanks for all the advise.

Nycon: Good luck with all of this. I've heard some horrible things about some of the Mazda dealerships lately. I've been trying to convince mine that I have a torn motor mount on the passenger side, but everytime they look at it they say it's fine.

Of course, I'm not going to tell them that I took it out already to look for a problem, but I wish there was an easier way.

"excessive wear and tear" ... That should be properly defined somewhere, I hate it when stuff is ambiguous like that.

Well there's no way they're going to replace the clutch unless i pay them...and what i'm going to do is buy a performance clutch and replace the old one. The tranny...they're fixing that no matter what. I'm deffinatly fighting them on that. Well thanks. Dealerships (gun)

The dealership wont cover the tranny but I'm contacting Mazda USA. Just an update on the situation.

Excessive wear and tear. Its total crap, but i'm going to mazda usa so hopefully they can get this thing handled. Btw, it needs 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears replaced.

Unless they have video of you auto-xing or drag racing, I don't see how they can proove that any excessive wear was your fault. And they DO have to prove it, especially since it's a known problem that other people have encountered. (no)

You might want to think about legal council. This one may end up going to court.

I'm going to the dealership on saturday for warranty work on a couple of other things and I will probably mention that I have had this problem and see what they say and what they do about it. Mine hasn't been as bad as yours but I would like to get it taken care of so that it doesn't get real bad. I'll keep you updated on how my little visit to the stealership goes.
