I Need a List of people who have had there Transmission stuck in a gear. Mazda denied my warrenty because the car is modified. They are saying since my car is lowered and has intake and exhaust. My drivetrain is completely stock right now so its a bunch of bulls***. any help would be greatly appreciated

You could try calling Mazda and seeing if they can help but unfortunely due to your mod list it may not. They can stand there with good stance saying those mods in someway affected the tranny.

But besides that what exactly is the tranny doing?

its stuck in third gear for the second time. But dont they have to prove that the mods accually caused the problem... There isnt anyway an Intake, Exhaust, No A/C and Camshafts are gonna cause a transmission to go out. I put the Powersteering Back on before I took the car to the dealer

youve added what. 15 horsepower (yes im over doing it a little to prove a point) so at the most your car is at 160 crank horsepower. the Mazdaspeed is at 170 horsepower crank. so how can that cause a problem when they use the same tranny. who has a link to the law from sema. I always loose it. the dealership has to PROVE not just say BUT PROVE they caused the problem.

the msp uses some different parts. the shift fork is different. Good luck getting it fixed. When you do get it fixed i'd buy the upgraded parts for the MSP, so you dont have to deal with it again.

yeah I told them I wanted something other than Aluminum Shift Forks so it wont break so easily if ever again which Im hoping I wont have to go threw another tranny.

Is it KNOWN that the speed has different forks? That's the first I've heard of that, but I could easily have missed it before.

I know I'll be flamed for agreeing with a dealer but...You've done some pretty radical things to the car. Stripping the interior, removing ac and power steering, gutting the cats. As well as the performance enhancing add ons. That's not like driving in with an injen and a new exhaust. It's perfectly clear that you race the car, there's no other reason to do that stuff. In their eyes you're abusing the car. The warranty says something about racing being considered abusive doesn't it???

Yes, it says that in the manual but the drivetrain is completely stock, so I dunno I guess I don't have a choice but to pay it :-\

very good point.....its probably the reason that the tranny has gone south....you have put it through MORE than what a stock set up would take.

even if you put the a/c and the power steering back on....if you took your car in with all the other mods listed, such as the stripped out interior.....you are gonna have a tough row to hoe....I personally don't think you would get anywhere without a lawyer.

I alrdy got a lawyer, The cars interior, trunk, Power steering, even the stock rims have been put back on it. The only thing that looks diffrent is the lack of A/C, the Injen CAI, and my Exhaust... Mazda sayes the only reason they are denying the warrenty is because, I have a parking permit for BSD (Beaver Springs Dragway) Which I told em that it was for an event that I needed to park on the Parking Lot at the strip. Who knows whats gonna happen, right now Im paying for it to be fixed but we are trying to get mazda to pay atleast Half of it.

My brother inlaw is a Mazda master tech.. When u get the trans workin right. Put a trans cooler on it. Some Mazda trans have problems with over heating and blowing the trans. I know this is common amoung some of the 4 cylender cars. When i get my body kit in for my 2000 Mazda Protege Lx i am puttin one on it.

The reason your car keeps getting stuck in gear is because you keep breaking the shift forks. I broke mine on my MSP after only 700 miles. This tranny is the shittiest tranny I've ever driven. Such a shame on such a great car.

Anyway, I think you're ******. Pay for the new tranny, and ease up on the shifting. My $.02

This is complete bulls***
Ive had the same problem two times. It is a bad shift fork in the stock protege. They are giving you some lame excuse. I had to go thru hell to make them pay for it.
The REAL problem is no the mod list. DEALERS DONT GET PAID GOOD MONEY FOR WARRANTY WORK ANYMORE SO THEY REFUSE TO DO THE MAJOR STUFF.
Go to your attorney. Have him send the OWNER of the dealer a letter of representation and an intent letter of suit. Have him/her be agreesive in the fact you are looking for damages for warranty noncompliance. Dont let them get away with it. :D
