Tranny noise?

Its my wife's car so I dont drive it too much but as of late I have been hearing a whine coming from the trans (i think). Its so hard to describe and it gets louder as you accelerate. The car runs smooth and shifts fine but I swear this noise was not there a few months ago. The noise is almost electrical in nature, like alternator noise through a radio's speakers. Car has 25k on the clock.

could easily be the intake. try cleaning your engine air filter.

i checked that as well clear. Its a very mechanical sound.

My 2014 make a nice high pitched whrrrring sound that comes from the Helical gears in the transmission. It is a muted sound but, it is there if I listen. Ed

I hear that similar sound on mine too, especially when I press the accelerator very lightly. It now has 8000 miles. I actually like that sound, haha.

My 2015 with less than 6000 miles has the same high pitched whine, but you only notice it when the radio is off. It also seems to go away once warmed up. I'd say it's normal.

I was wondering about that, it masks the engine sound. So the conclusion is that it is normal?

I've had my 2013 CX-5 GT since June 2012 and the whining noise never really bothered me, but in the last 4 months I've been hearing a raspy rattling sound on occasion when the transmission tries to downshift. I'm not sure if this is normal or it might be the beginning of some transmission issue?
