Tranny noise, pulsating brakes, and bump on tire

Well guys... i reached 6k this weekend, and I have a few problems that I want to discuss with you all before I call the dealer to get this stuff looked at. Here goes...

Please look at mods below first to tell me if it is caused by something i have installed...

1. When the car is WARMED up, there is a noise that comes from under the car, a rattling noise when I accelerate a lil hard. It happens in the lower to mid level rpms, and it sounds like something is loose in the tranny or something is loose.

2. I noticed that when I come to a stop while braking a lil hard, I feel the car pulsate to the stop, as if a rotor needs to be shaved. A lot of people don't notice it too well, but I definitely do.

3. This weekend, a friend noticed that I have a bump on the front right tire on my car. I looked to see if I hit it, but I didn't. There isn't a noticeable scratch or mark there from the curb or anything like that, so I'm wondering if it was there all this time? Is that covered under warranty?

Well, these are the major problems. What do you all suggest? I need to know before I look like a fool at the dealership trying to get these things looked at. Also, I'm gonna try to get that TSB on the rust on rotors thing done too! THANKS A LOT GUYS AND GALS!

wow, not a single reply... guess no one has any suggestions? I guess i'll let the stealership tell me

I know that the dunlops on the MSP have a waranty of their own. Maybe your's do to? That would most likely be covered considering it's a defect not from your own doing.

I have had cars that make that rattle under acceleration. Never checked it out. Can't help.

Are you sure the braking feeling isn't ABS? Tonight I didn't see a red light coming up and applied the brakes very hard (it was wet outside) and the abs kicked in and felt very different than the way ABS felt in my older cars. Much smoother, almost non-existant as compared to the old school ABS. Just a thought....probably not ABS but just a double check;)

2. My car does this too, i need rotors ground and new pads. ive got 35k.

3. i hit a rock in the road from a construction site a while back , and i got a bump on my side wall. Tires aren't under warrenty, eventually it started to leak so i got a new tire.

Thanks! I noticed on my tires that there is a SMALL crack in the rubber around the bump, but nothing specifically on the bump itself. They might look real close and say that I hit something, I know they will.

And I know what the ABS feels like, but that's not it. I'm talking about normal braking at lights and stop signs.

Your tires most likely need to be balanced. I had similar problems in my old car. Coming to a red light feels almost like your bouncing a little. Get them balanced, the bump might have something to do with it too.

Sounds good... but is that covered under warranty? Like can I go into mazda and say that it's something with the balancing or brakes?

I need to know soon if I should go in, cause I have to take off my intake. (Do I need to take off my short shifter? Cause if the rattling noise is from the tranny, they can say it was the short shifter!)

Because they can easily blame anything on that... I don't want to take the risk of voiding any warranty I have with a cheap intake. Plus, it's really easy to remove anyway. The short shifter isn't THAT easy though.

I'm aware that aftermarket parts do no void warranties, only when they are the direct cause of the problem. I just don't want to show up at the dealer with an intake on, then down the road come in for engine problems, and they would say YOU HAD AN INTAKE ON! Just for precautionary measures, I would take it off.

They won't care about the intake. Has nothing to do with any of your problems. Tires should be covered under warranty.

I guess it would depend on the dealer then . But the tires are obviously almost brand new. They should be taken care of.

Anyone have any suggestions for the tranny noise (or at least I THINK it is). Only happens when car has been warmed up well, and while accelerating hard. I have kartboy shifter/knob/bushings, could that be the culprit?

hah ok. 500 miles on my car. bubble in the tire, no anything on the sidewall isnt covered under warranty. if it is an impact blow there will be a crack on the inside of the tire. that means its not covered under warranty. if it isnt and it is a defect. there will be nothing on the inside of the tire. but in all actuallity. there will be nothing, but i can tell you from first hand experience. it is a bubble from a pothole most likely. secondly. the brakes. get em checked. i notive p5's abd no3's have a tendency to warp rotors pretty quick. i went completely through my pads at 11k on my automatic. so check them out whether you want to or not. also. check the heat sheild under the car. may be a cause of the sound. but i dunno your case. =\ good luck mannnnnn

Sounds good... i'll just make an appointment to go in and see. If they do it, then ok. I'll get a lot of little things done while I'm there, including rust on hubs.

Check the heat shield under the car, I had the same problem as well and the heat shield came loose and started to rattle. It will get worse. I asked my local dealer to just rip it off and make a note on my service record saying they actually did it.

Hmmm, so you think that might be it? Cause I know that I had to bed it down a lil bit when I put the short shifter in. Maybe that's causing all the damn rattling, but the only thing that I'm suspicious about is that it happens at warmer temps, not cold.

This happened to mine after I installed my intake. The dealer told me that when the car gets hot, the heat shield almost expands a bit from the heat, making it come apart. I originally asked them to just weld it together (cause it it just 2 pieces held together not welded) and they said it would just keep rattling. It really started to piss me off so I asked them to take it off. The only thing is that it does get a bit hotter around the center console now, but no rattling at all !
