Tranny Disaster

Sorry dude i don't know, i wish i could tell you more but i can't right now. I don't even know if 600 is right or if he is just exagerating. If i could tell you more i would but i just don't know. Wait untill jan and then (if i remember) i will give more info.

Ok as for the syncro thing, sorry I don't know how to say it better. There is a ring that slides on a platic piece when its all the way over, next to the gear, its engaged. That metal ring doesn't slide all the way over causing the gear not to be fully engaged and thats how mine striped a few teath off. I don't know if thats what happened to you but my 3rd went first too so it would stand to reason thats what happened to you. again sorry for my description i don't know the proper wording. hope that helps.

Brian, were there any symptoms prior to the transmission giving out? Mine seems to be "loose" in 3rd gear, meaning that I can move the shifter toward neutral and actually grind gears, all without touching the clutch. Shifter is firmly in place when in other gears.

No symptoms other than notchy from day 1.
I have to take the car back to the shop tomorrow as I have this intermittent "clunk" now when I stop. Whatever it is I didnt have it proior to taking the car in.

They probably didn't get your A-Arms torqued to spec... if you get any of that those suspension components a little too loose, they'll clunk under braking and bumps... been there done that :)

So more good news. I took the car in for the clunk i was hearing and as soon as we had it on the lift i noticed transmission fluid leaking from the input shaft seal.
Now the car is back in the shop so they can fix whatever they did wrong. At this point I think i have some how developed turrets syndrome.

They immediately started working on it and hope to have it done tomorrow.

LOL... they probably tried to get away cheap and didn't replace the seals... that's a quick way to a leak :)

They damaged the seal and put a new one in. They also found the source of the clunk. They said both control arms were loose. Two full turns before they started to tighten.. Makes me wonder if the shop that installed my shocks forgot to tighten them.
