Traded my 08 Mazdaspeed 3 in this past weekend

yeah im not really looking to buy as i need to focus on school now but hopefully if i get some spare change ill definitely put it on the list;)

First off- Nice car, don't let the naysayers get under yer skin!

Question-You mentioned that "3rd gear occasionally non-existent" in your MS3, what exactly do you mean by this?

Are you saying that under hard acceleration you were accidentally shifting from 2nd into 5th instead of 3rd?

Glad to see its coming along lazer, thats nuts the kind of power you're putting down. I forgot how much fun rwd and torque is lol.

Yeah the only thing I'm missing now is the manual trany. However drag racing an auto is much easier and explains my very consistent times.

Is there an off-the-shelf trans swap? Most MBs I've seen are slushboxes. I don't drag race, so a cheap SRT-6 with a manny tranny would make me think twice.

Not to my knowledge. If there were I'm sure it would be quite an expensive endeavor. Part of my draw to this car was the low cost, bolt-on only, 11 second car. However I didn't quite get the time I wanted to get. It's a known issue with the tune/mods I have. Leans out at the top of 3rd. :( Getting new tune now- which should address the fueling issue and give me the 11.7-11.8 @ 115-120 I'm looking for.

Not bad for 23k (cost of car & mods). (eek2)

scroll down to half way.

I personally don't mind the car, but every review or road test I've seen seem to s*** on the poor thing

Indeed that's the standard N/A version. The SRT-6 was a limited production specialty vehicle. They only made it in 05.

One of the reasons for it's failure was it's insane asking price. The n/a's were low to mid 30's and the SRT-6 versions were mid to high 40's! Mine originally stickered for 45k. (boom08)

Price changes perspective quite a bit. Would I have bought one for 45k, heck no. In that range I'd be looking at an LS3 Vette.

However for the price of a Hyundai Elantra, and low milage- it's a HUGE performance bargain. Best part is most don't even know what it is. Even if they know what a Crossfire is they think it's got 230hp not over 360. (drive2) Other drivers are quite surprised when they try to accelerate to cut me off- they'd need something along the lines of a Viper or Z06 Corvette to stand a chance.

Good good...when I drive it that is. I haven't had a chance to take it out much this summer. Poor thing sits in my driveway uncovered (no garage). :(

I recently had my Super Cooler installed (upgraded heat exchanger)- which is supposed to keep the IAT's down during the hot summer months.

Between me and my wife we have 3 cars (2 Crossfires *she has a Limited Roadster/Convertible) and an H3. We are trying to get down to 2 cars. Just had someone take over the lease on my H3 and looking to sell her Crossfire. Anyone want a mint 2005 Crossfire Limited Roadster w/ 15,000 on the odometer? ;) Trying to unload it for 15,500.

I would love to get back into a MS3 but trying to talk my wife into driving it will be tough. She wasn't fond of my previous 08 MS3 (w/ TWM ss kit). :) I was at the Mazda dealer today as a mater of fact and saw a few of the NEW MS3's. I actually like them in person. The interior is much nicer- and the new red is better than the old True Red IMHO!

Anyway back to the SRT6. Regarding my trek for the 11's- I'm getting another tune in the fall and will start hitting the track again. I'm pretty confident I'll see 11.9-11.8. If I keep cutting weight (dieting) and remove my passenger seat I may even see 11.7. More and more people on my Crossfire forum are getting into the 11's club just the other day a member posted this: http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/crossfire-srt6/36753-i-lost-race-but.html
