traded in my Mazdaspeed for an SRT

I have to admit.. I honestly thought you would have caught the flame of your life with that post....
I opened the page. red the opening lines , my heart shook and a thought came about that said...
"This man has huge huevo's" ...(no homo) ....

anyway .. as someone mentioned earlier if you have two cars and one has the horsepower and lack the handling , and the other one lacks the horsepower but has plenty handling.. It would be much easier to work on the car with the added hp, but with low handeling especially if the car has a rigid chassis and the aftermarket for suspension tunning.

If you have a car on the reverse with not enough power but sweet handleing, then you are faced with worrying about fuel curves, leaning out, overboosting, hp numbers and so forth... :wtf:

I personally love the MSP, mainly for the styling , but damn it hurts to know that if I had a MSP I really could not tess a SRT cause I would have to wonder if he would burn my doors while running around me ...

But styling hands down the MSP gets it .. the SRT just looks like a NEON:bs: and therefore it is ...
neon srt forum??? ..

but at anyrate good luck with your new SRT-4 ... The most important part of any Protege or NEON is enjoying it .. no paying for it ..

i put about 25,000 miles a year on my cars - cruise control is a must, turbo or no turbo. but, as the saying in this thread goes; "it's all about personal taste!" :D

Yeah that's true ,..
No Cruise is like a MSP with no A/C ... in my eyes anyway....
bad enough the car has no damn sunroof.. that alone is a sin...

LOL you would never catch AGR on a long road trip with the MSP. He had to he'd probably go buy a truck and trailer it around :p

Wait I know! Perfect solution to the "MSP doesn't have this-SRT doesn't have that".......Ready.....Also buy a Protege ES! There you go. You would have a car for performance (MSP-SRT) and a pratical everyday enjoyable car. :D

the Neon is only faster in a straight line. Try laying that power down coming out of a corner. Plus suspension wise its pretty average but if you want power in a straight line then you have found your car.
Common misconception.......very minor tweeks make the SRT4 handle like a mad. The suspension is identical to the MSP by the way, just not as tweaked.

Funny, although I really like the MSP, it still looks like a Protege.....

SRT4 is rumoured to be released in Canada around early August, as the 04 model with a sunroof and a stock LSD. So much for the "burning up the inside tire" comments LOL:p One less thing to pick on. I have power fronts and crank rears on my R/T and never once have I needed to use a power rear window, especially knowing that they only go 1/2 way down. Many Euro cars have power fronts and crank rears as well.

I would never be able to get over the fact that it's a NEON.....they're notoriously one of the most recalled POS cars ever produced....
Look CLOSELY at the 2nd gen car and you would see it is as good or better than many imports. Also look at the PT and PT Turbo, they have been VERY solid as well and are built on the Neon platform and many similar parts and materials.

Yeah , wait till you take the msp on a 400-500 mile trip .. or better yet a 1000 mile trip...
you will want that CC then

Bruce,,,Bruce,,,Bruce; I am 49 years old, and have been driving many years. A sunroof, and cruise control are luxuries I have experienced in the past. I can certainly get by just fine without them. Ain't no biggie! I hardly ever used the cruise on my last car. 1,000 road trip? Not anymore! I will fly.

I drove my MSP to Jersey on the last weekend. Left saturday, judged a show, and drove back sunday. over 800 miles round trip. I did not miss my CC at all.

Its like having an automatic, your not really "Driving" just turning a wheel. No fun in that for me, but again, I love long road trips, so to each thier own. :D

Common misconception......very minor tweaks can make the MSP drive like mad...MBC 10-15PSI, exhaust, cooler plugs, and FCD.
30 for MBC (group buy), 1050 for Exhaust, and 60 for FCD.
:D

Really? It has Tokico struts, Racing Beat springs / sway bars, 215/45/17 Potenza tires and Racing Hart wheels? Damn did not know that. :p

Like they say " The straights are for the amatuers.
The corners are for the professionals."

Scamp: I test drove a Neon and same deal; when I exited the corners and tried to apply power the inside tyre just went wild. No one has autocrossed one by me yet so I havent seen what they can do but im not too worried

Scamp???? :p

When I test drove one, the power WAS great, but the tires totally gave it up in turns: I took an onramp at 25, about 15mph slower than the MSP will go, and the car was unstable and the tires were squealing like pigs....

To each his own, but I'm glad I got the MSP, even with the $400 power upgrade kit that DODGE is selling for the SRT... WTF, MAZDA?!?!?!?!?!

The wheels mean almost nothing they weigh almost the same from info I have heard on this board. The SRT could do a lot better with 215 or 225's and the R/T's were always applauded for doing a lot handling wise with less tire than other cars. It has sway bars but not the spring strut combo of the MSP, I'll give you that, but the mopar unit's in the car are nothing to scoff at either. The MSP superior handling has a lot to do with the tire and camber differences, still the SRT could have better shocks.
The suspension DESIGN is what I was referring to not COMPONENTS by the way, and they both have identical design, just a slightly different execution.

Congrats on the car, hope you like it.

on a side note, how many times do we have to go throught these srt4 arguments? the next person that says the SRT4 sucks because it has crank rear windows (who gives a ****) or the mazdaspeed protege looks better, so its obviously a better car, will get thier post edited to say "I am 12 years old."

thanks.

Yeah all the srt owners thought that they would get around 260 hp with the stage 1 they can buy. I saw the First dyno numbers, with a stage 1, the guy got 7 hp. HAHA 7 hp for 400 bucks

Thank you! That is getting a little old...big letters above!:D

I didnt read this whole thread, but your first post said it.
It seems like you were looking for some SPEED. Then the SRT is definitely the way to go. With the $400 mopar kit people are running mid 13s.
I've sat in them, driven them, and raced one. They are nice cars, well worth the 20K asking price, as is the MSP.

Even though I love my car (and have never seen another one!!), i hate to say some of you act like we are driving ferraris. The truth is we are all in souped up economy cars and both (SRT, MSP) kick ass so why not appreciate & get along?

Actually why must just about every discussion of different cars turn into huge flame wars? This post didn't really get there compared to others but it eventually happens.
Aren't we all car lovers? Can't we just sit and discuss strengths and weakness openly and learn?

Hmpf I dunno, maybe I just need more coffee.
