Traction bars

Here's a response I got in a PM regarding the traction bars:
It is actually the exact same durometer as the awr mounts. The main mounting location just replaces the factory tow hooks, it bolts right in. The only modification that is needed is drilling a half inch whole in the control arms. It only replaces the long skinny cross brace that the front engine mount bolts onto.

btw, do you have the gtspec front lower tie bar?
Even though I don't have one of these this brings an important question. I cannot run this bar because I have the AWR oil pan. So naturally, if the traction bar setup interferes with the bar, then by deduction, it would also interfere with my AWR oil pan (wouldn't be the first thing to do so).

Also, does the mount use the same style polyurethane inserts as the AWR mounts? If, you can always remove the inserts from the AWR mount and use them with the traction bar mount. If they're too far gone or won't come out you can always order them from AWR individually as well.

I also built a custom pan for reffoxel and it is designed to clear his pan as well. I do not know how the awr compares to the one i built but if they are similar in size then it should clear just fine. All of the plastic that is removed from reffoxels car has been removed for quite some time, I dont not know if the factory plastic will need to be modified for the links to clear. Both lower radiator tabs are in the factory location and none of that was moved. There is adequate clearance from the radiator mounting tabs to the main bar. From what I can find on the gt spec tie bar it would be no where near the mounting locations of the traction bar. I actually took out the urethane from reffoxels awr mounts to use on the traction bar, so yes they will have the exact same size and type of urethane.

^^^ The AWR pan is quite a bit larger than stock (adds something like 1.5+ qrts). But if you say it should clear the GT Spec bar then there shouldn't be any problems with the pan (those two parts conflict). Good news on the urethane mounts though. Any willingness to produce or pricing yet?

Also, you mentioned drilled control arms. Any more details on that?

On the pan I fabbed up it has a front and rear kick out. The trailing link on the passenger side of the car is 1 5/8 inch from the oil pan at the closest point (the front kick out) The control arms need to be drilled in one specific spot with a 1/2 whole. I have templates for the whole location so it is no big deal. As far as willingness to produce, thats a big 10-4 but no word on pricing as of yet because i do not want to break any forum rules.

We would have results for everyone on how it drives but it has an axle issue. The car has custom axles and the driver side axle is a wee bit too short and pops out of the transmission while driving. I am currently waiting for the axle to come back before we can continue testing.

guys.. i'm building a semi track car.. or something like it. i'm very interested in this setup.. do you have more information/pictures/etc.. i'm very motivated to work something out. if you want, hit me up via pm.. let me know of some kind of price or w/e.. thanks.

If no one is going to produce that piece, can I get a blueprint of some sort? or at LEAST the general measurements? I would LOVE to put one of those together for myself... if it went well I'd be more than happy to make multiples.

I do. And I wouldn't charge a whale of a lot... DOM tubing isn't too bad, and plate steel should be easy... I even know the local supplier to get it from... can get it pre-cut for a decent price... save some time and energy. lol

well do what you want. i'm down.. so long as it works well.. and holds strong..

btw. 5000th post right now!

if they'll cough up the plans, I'll build em... I dunno about sourcing the "endlinks" for the traction bar portion... Maybe just order those from AWR, or some off road parts supplier.. but everything else should be pretty strait forward...
