Is it even available in the states? It says legal for use on public roads in Australia!

Yes it is available in the states.

It is the replacement for the old RA-1 track tire. They are legal for road use in the US but they will not last all that long if you drive them every day.

R888 are available but only in limited sizes currently they are being used by a few track day guys i know. just wait for the R1Rs those are be nice. i got to see the first set in the US thanks to my buddy at SixAutoworks. they are basically an R888 but for street and autocross.

Great circuit tires apparently, but the RA-1s are still the most common radial used in the sport compact drag series over here...

oh and you'll kill them within 10k miles if you street drive them.
Compound is like bubblegum softness.

I use toyos, R888 are primarily track day tyres but are road legal if you like swapping tyres every few months.
Ive been using Toyo Proxes T1-R for a few years now as they have proven to be a very good (and cheaper) alternative to Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 and every set has lasted me way longer, GSD3 i would get maybe 10k out of them, my last set of Proxes T1-R i sold after 12k with 5m of tread still on them. Ill maybe try the Proxes 4 next when i need some new rubber.
Cant wait for these OE bridgstones to wear off, they were crap on the civic TypeR and they are crap on this car
