Towing trailer + BSM

I had installed Curt Class-II hitch on my CX-5. Yesterday I tried towing U-haul trailer (5'X9') trailer. I noticed that my BSM lights go ON when there's no vehicle in my BS. I am sure it was the trailer that was triggering that. May be the trailer was not aligned center. I thought may be trailer was swaying, but that was not case as seen from side/rear view mirror.
Has anyone experienced it? Any solution?

I noticed the same thing this weekend using my bike rack and 2 bikes on my new hitch. Turning the BSM off is really the only alternative as the sensors are behind the rear bumper and they're going to read your trailer as a threat no matter what.
