This is humorous. When cars started using digital speedometers to cut costs, driving enthusiasts lamented the loss of real analog gauges.
Now there is a new breed of enthusiasts who prefer digital.
From a purely practical perspective I prefer analog speedometers because I can "see" how fast I'm going at a glance (and it is a more visual, less cerebral, representation). This is especially helpful if my speed is changing rapidly either due to hard acceleration or braking. Digital displays either lag behind or look like "88".
The Audi one is superb (it's in addition to the analogue speedo by the way, not instead of), extremely rapid and has very clear text. I was unfortunate enough to own a Citroen a few years back and that had a digital speedo that I thought had put me off forever so know what you mean. When you get used to using a well designed digital speedo it does seem to grow on you!
