i got some touch up paint from the dealership and i was wonder what is the best way to apply it to our cars? i read a few articles online that you can use a tooth pick and not really the original brush that comes with it. i put some on the spots where some rust was forming in a few of the rock dings but the paint just bubbled and stood out so i smoothed it out but when it dried you can see the streak from it. any help please. (confused)

I'm curious too, I have a bad ding that is getting rust in it :( So pissed, I keep finding so many damn chips, scratches, and big dents on my car that I never noticed.

how would i do that in the little dings without taking more paint off or making it bigger?

that hurts. omlete du' furmage (sp?) i just need a new paintjob. i'll see what i can do for the touch up.

what you can do is start taking it to the body shop over a period of time. like get the front end painted one day, then save up money get the doors painted, then save again and get the hood painted, etc. or you can do it in one shot.

ya but wouldnt doing that the tiem between, wouldnt the new paint fade to the old paint.... i mean sometimes they cant match the color "exactly" and it has 2 tones. like when my sis got into a accident they shop did a half ass job on the paint job. looks nothing alike and they said its due to fade and they cant fix it...... wtf.

well i did some touch up and now some of the marks i touched up looks smeared after they've dried. they looked good when i put the paint on but now since it's dried you can notice where it's touched up. any suggestions?

got some pics? i want to see if it looks like mine. mine looks like i just drew over it with paint lol. mayb you can use a buffer or something and buff it down to the paint?? i havnt tried that n just thought of it lol. mayb ill try it..

if its all smooth already try polishing it out

well at first i dobbed it on and saw how it was just like a bubble on the smooth door so i took it off before it dried and then tried putting a few small coats on with with the brush and for it to even out i tried to blend it but now that its dried it looks like its wet in that spot or something. i'll take pics tomorrow. it's all stormy out now so its bad lighting.

I also heard that even if you get the touchup paint factory matched (straight from Mazda), the metallic paint can still look "off," no matter how you apply it.
I'm debating whether or not the $4 online is worth it for my Velocity Red HB. Any thoughts?

alrigh thanks. i'll try applying some with a toothpick in some spots after i cover up/get ridof rust and exposed surfaces.
