Torque those lug nuts!

Holy crap! I thought maybe one wheel would come off, but them all?! That's probably one of the craziest things I have ever seen. Sux for the owner...

that's gotta be one of the most embarassing moments in AutoX. At least it would be to me, specially if its just that someone forgot to tighten those lug nuts. Are we sure thats what it was? or was maybe there another reason?

no were not sure exactly what it was...(i actually wasnt at the event) no ones posted anything on how or why the wheels just came off like that... im assuming that it either wasnt torqued or...maybe not even screwed in? not sure....on the lvrscca forum title just says the same it does here...so as far as right now no one is quite sure how that happened...

kinda makes me paranoid now changing out wheels...ill probably triple check before i take the car our again after switching wheels...just a reminder i suppose to what could happen if you dont do it right i suppose

like i said on the other forum...its like jumping and not landing on your feet but on your knees...ouch! =X

Thats some crazy shat right there. the driver prolly thought, omg im drifting!? boom... uh, damn... i guess not.

Probably the wrong pitch on the lug nuts. They were more than likely getting tighter but didn't make it flush to the wheel.

good possible explanations... wait i didnt double post this on here did i?

lmao!! that makes me sooo sad... wen i saw that car just drop to the ground, i got scared... lol very sad/ embarassing...

I JUST took one of my wheels off (to test fit a different rim) and put it back on. I just tightened it down about as much as I could with the stock lug wrench... (I didn't jump on it or anything, but I did make them pretty damn tight.)

Should I get me a torque wrench ASAP and do it right? I have another vehicle (a '93 Ford Ranger), should I drive that around 'til I torque my MS3 wheel properly?

No you should be okay as long as there tight but if you have noticed a pulsation in the brake pedal then you may have warped you rotors but i would not be concernd about it...

as long as you don't feel a really noticable wobble when you're not on the gas or brake, you'll be ok. it happened to me before where 4 of my lugs were loose and my wheel was pretty much being held on by 1 lug nut and the center cap. you'll hear a loud wobbling noise as well, which goes away when you accellerate or brake.

just make sure to hit the lugs after 50 or so miles with the wrench again to make sure they're still tight, then you're good to go.
