Torn CV Boot

So I went in for an oil change last night and turns out when they had my car up on the hoist the tech noticed a gash in my driver-side CV joint boot and I've been leaking grease for a while. Also it seems that one of the metal pieces connected to the control arm (not sure what to call it) is bent, slightly. I'm thinking I may have hit some ice chunks or something as this winter has been pretty brutal. The dealer already ordered a new CV boot ($75!!!), but they want $430 for all of this. And they are saying that that metal piece can probably be pounded straight, however I may have messed up the alignment. My car drives straight as an arrow and I haven't noticed any ill effects from this. My question is, doesn't $430 seem like an awful lot for this? And is it really necessary to pound that metal piece straight and get an alignment, especially since my car seems to drive great? From what I saw when it was on the hoist it really is not that bad at all. That being said this is still a not even 1 year old $24,000 car that I plan on driving for a long time so I want things to be right. I'll try to jack it up and snap a couple pics this weekend.

this should be covered under warranty, so i would fight for that. but i can also see how it might have been done by yourself so they dont want to cover it

Well they are saying they can't cover it under warranty because it is obvious that it was caused by something I hit on the road. Which I agree with after seeing it.

This could potentially be an insurance claim...but the damage is most likely below your deductible....hmm. I can see why it wouldn't be covered under warranty, as it's not a "faulty" item. That sucks man, best of luck.
