And the Civic which was ranked as the #2 greatest of all time has how many hp stock?

Oh and the stock Protege will out handle a stock Civic to boot.

Did you even read the reason why they picked it?

the list isn't comprised because of horsepower. they take in all the aspects of the car such as handling, utility, fun to drive, and power. even though the P5 has about 130hp crank, it's still more fun to drive than a 227hp WRX.

That is your opinion and it is not shared by anyone I know or any magazine writer either.

No, I have not picked up the latest issue yet. But, I can assume they picked it because along with the CRX the Civic has been one of the most influential sport compacts of all time. I agree it is safe to say that the Civic (no specific years determined) has had the greatest influence on the Sport Compact scene of any car. In fact, I would have no problem if they had picked the Civic as number one.

My statement is pointed towards your comment that since the Protege only has 130 HP it is understandable why it wasn't picked. Based on that point of view, then the Civic would have no place in the list either.

Maybe they picked the top 100 sports cars that advertisers to that mag sell mods for. Not a lot of Mainstream aftermarket (Jeg's, Summit and ImportOption, etc) for Proteges like there is for the Focus. That's why the Focus made the cut, I bet...advertising dollars.

Nailed it right on the head. SCC does the most pandering that I have ever seen any magazine do. They change their minds more than John Kerry at a Buffet...

Also, the Rx8 makes the list, but no RX7?? WTF?? SCC had better remove their heads from their asses and put in the Rx7. Hell, I'd be happy if they grouped the MP3/MSP as one car and called it the 02-03 Protege MP3/MSP, just as long as it made the list.

car and driver called the mp5 a sports car in station wagon clothes.
and according to motor trend: it does 66.5mph through the slalom, that will challenge most sport cars .
it looks and handles(wrc) like a sporty car to me!

in SCC's own test, MSP whomps on several cars that are on the top 100 list.....yet those cars places as high as 46 in this list and the msp didnt make it.....(scratch)

They're not comparing the FASTEST or the BEST HANDLING, they're just comparing for the "best" sports compact car. That explains why the Civic is #2 on the list.

#40 - 1993-1996 Honda Prelude VTEC - "One hundred ninety horsepower from a 2.2-liter four? B**chin'. So what if the styling was bizarre and the dash was stupid."

#39 - 1997-2001 Honda Prelude SH - "Everything that was good about the previous Prelude in a prettier package. Handled great."

LOL..

ITR got #70 and NSX-R got #71.. lol.
