Took apart intake/intercooler on my ms3

Anyone know what that weird looking thing in the middle is?

That stuff in the last pic looks like the actuators for the shifter.. since it's a cable-driven shifter instead of rod-based like in the Protege5.

The stock TMIC looks like a pretty well-done piece. I guess they've come a long way from stealing parts off of turbodiesel euro cars like they did for the Mazdaspeed Protege

wtf? damn perfectionist! it only has 300 miles on it! too much electronics on it to clean it anyway.. I'd be way to worried.

I meant the big peice of metal on the other side.. like a counterbalance or something.

DOes that big piece of metal have a little piece of metal that connects to those 2 black sheathed wires that go near it at the bottom part of the pic? If so then i believe thats the switch that tells the ecu if its in 1st or 2nd gear, so as to limit the torque output. If not then its a weight to make shift feel better.

I'll find out later when I take everything apart again.

i cant seem to find a place to pass the vacuum tubing through the firewall. Its so damn cramped in this engine bay..

i cant seem to find a place to pass the vacuum tubing through the firewall. Its so damn cramped in this engine bay..

There's a nice, soft grommet around the heater/ac lines in the middle of the firewall. It enters the cabin just to the right of the center stack. That's where I ran my B+ power for the cig lighter through.

That's also where your heater and a/c lines are.
