Tokyo Extreme Racer 3 players....

Hey guys, been playing TXR3 for a few weeks now and wanted to see what other people were using and charting progress.

I've cleared out the first three cities rather quickly and now that I have free access to the FULL city I'm going back and trying to hunt down every challeneger from a specific area.

My car: Skyline GT:R R34. 488ps@8K rpm & 50.4kgm/6Krpms avg top speed - 185mph.

With this car I've been able to take out almost 300 opponants. I'm about halfway through I figure and I've maxxed this car out. What cars are you guys using? I have access to the Viper and the Pantera, but those cars handle like boats....even with $300K sunk into them.

p.s. Anyone get the "mileage trick" to work? I've tried it several times and haven't gotten more than 1 mile. I could really use the engine swap option!!

wow, once you get into it a little you will love it. this is my favorite racer on PS2. My all time favorite is Sega GT on DC, then Sega GT 2002 on xbox, but TXR3 is right up there! I love the car models and the customization. NFS:U was all glitz and no tits. GT3+4 will be beautiful games, but doubt they will have anything new in the way of physics or car upgrading. Also any game that considers themselves serious shouldn't have 19 versions of the Honda Civic (GT3 had 19 different honda civic models)

s*** kid....PGR is crap compared to TXR3....besides if you want to play the original I'll whup ya! Come over and try me on Metropolis Street Racer for DC....we'll see what's what!!

BTW....add me to your xbox list...."Turbo Matty P"

Okay, I'll do that 2morrow. Im too lazy to unplug my cable and Im tired too. Well maybe you can rent it and let me stomp your ass on live ;)

from someone who has admitted to not playing but it for a minute you need to give it a chance before you say it. I've been playing TXR since they first came out and they are by far my favorite. I think the Sega GT series has a lot to offer, but lacks the street racing feel that I like in TXR. Also GT1-2-3-4 are good racing games but they are NOT the end-all-be-all of racing games. The only reason people like GT series is because they have so many cars to choose from. The best racing game ever made only had 1 model.....Ferrari F355 by Sega was AMAZING (not my favorite, but hand down the most realistic and well represented racing game of the decade)

NFS:U is a waste of money.....oh god if I could only go back and get my $50 back....

What a horrible waste of licensing. the best they could do is a focus, neon, sentra, miata, golf......sure they had the upper cars....cars that aren't even made anymore, but where's my MSP, my RX8, my G35 sport coupe, my FX, ......that game was all about looks not racing.....think about it...the only way to progress through the game was to add neon lights and s*** to your car...what a waste!

I love 355... Damn I spent 40 bucks at an Arcade playing that s***. I learned how to drive stick on a video game!

its arguable, but no way are you going to tell me that txr3 is better than gt3..........

Sega makes the best racing games. One of my fav's now in the arcades is Initial D.....made by Sega Rosso....Good game, good physics, life-like car models....no rap music.

NFS:U is for poseurs. People who think their JDM tailights are performance parts...people with the fake fire extinguisher....ricers in other words. A real racing game isn't about rims or "vinyls"....it's about bettering your skills against opponants who spank you for 3 weeks before you beat one.

the thing you fail to realize is that nfs:u is not trying to be a realistic racing game. it completely succeeded in what it was trying to accomplish which is create a good, fun, arcade style racer

Why isn't TXR3 better than GT3?? Do you think GT3 is accurate in ANYTHING it does other than car models?? I'm going to make a short list of GT3 innaccuracies since people think it's the most realistic racing "simulator" on the market.

1. Where's the turbo boost? At no point in the game can you feel, see or notice the effects of turbo boost. The car never breaks loose when you mash the pedal from a 30mph roll.....it sure does in my car though. Never any difference in acceleration either.

2. Washjing your car increases your top speed?? In GT3 paying for a car wash after so many races actually helps your top speed. Yeah, that's amazing. Also, the same for the stupid oil change option...When have you ever seen an oil change done 68miles later that has netted a 20whp gain??

3. there are only 3 types of drivetrain physics, FWD, AWD, and RWD. There is no distinction made for LSD's in FWD vehicles. I remember the first time I revved up the MSP and dumped it...I was all over the place....and that's only about 150whp...imagine my surprise when my 390hp FWD car in GT3 was revved up and dumped...it just pulled. I got a little tire spin, but nothing like what 390hp would actually produce.

4. HONDA CIVICS AREN"T RACE CARS!! Why do you need 19 of them in one game!

p.s. Don't even get me started on prices of cars and parts. That is the biggest fallacy I've seen!

This is just a short list as I'm too busy playing TXR3 to go through my complete list. I do own GT3 and play it about once a month, just to drive the RX8....then I get pissed at the game and play something interesting like Sega GT

Also, NFS:U is an embarrassment to anyone who considers themselves serious about the "import scene". At first I thought it was great but then I realized how little depth there was to it. It's one track for pete's sake. and it's always raining (or looks like it).

The cars are weak, the mods are weak, the character art is super-weak....the best thing about the game is the soundtrack and I only like 2 songs on it.

um, and if you think txr3 is more realistic you're obviously retarded. ive only played it twice since i bought it because the damn cars handle like ass and driving at 60 mph feels no different than 120 mph...........

the point is that all racing games have their niche and they all have flaws, but txr3 is NOT the best
