Tokyo Auto Salon - Heavy on pics

Pantera RX-7

Phew... this is getting tiring but this thread is nearing 1,000 views!!
Yay!!
(drinks)

I've never heard of these guys but they make carbon fiber (dry) parts for the FD3S. Man, the parts are very light. I swung open the door on their car and did a double take, because it was so light that it felt like swinging a pencil.

Can't imagine how light this RX-7 was because all the body parts were dry carbon fiber.

Knight Sports !!! Finally!!

Knight Sports is located near Haneda Airport in Tokyo (RE Amemiya is nearer Narita Airport in Chiba - either way, I'm in between so yes, I may be a lucky guy!!!).

Anyways I sat down with one Hidefumi Nakamura, Managing Director and discussed modding my Protege5 that I've actually was crazy enough to import to Japan (just love the car). They were very connected with the original Tokyo dealership that was the start of Mazdaspeed in Japan. Dude!! I mentioned my Protege5 and he said that very likely that dealership and would have parts for it rolling around in their warehouse - he said it would be easy to call them up and find out what they have - a direct line to Mazdaspeed!

Not only that, the Protege is a car that can be rather easily supercharged. I was floored.... And for you Miata gearheads, the 2.3 Axela engine is basically a straight swap into the Miata engine bay. Seems that folks in Japan are doing that. The DISI Mazdaspeed 2.3 Axela Engine is not swappable. Well, if you have the money, time and patience anything is possible....

My brain was bursting with crazy ideas for my car...OK OK enough fantasizing.

Cockpit Tatebayashi Silvia

Not too many Silvias or Skylines for that matter really caught my sight. Maybe it was because I'm a Mazda nut that RX-7s came into sight quicker than the other cars. But here's really the only Silvia I thought I saw at the show.

Magic RX-7

OK folks by this time I was getting really, really tired. I was about to go home when I kept finding RX-7's. This was one of them.

Miscellaneous

OK, finally I'm down to my last several pics. These are miscellaneous photos of the show. The bizarre, cute and strange ones. If you want to see them all they are in the "Misc" section of the album on photobucket (link is in my first post).

OK folks this is it for all the pics. I hope you enjoyed the journey and feel free to post comments. I have videos but they are rather large in size and are in avi format - not supported on photobucket. Will work on converting them to a supported format

Hey, before you go, check my post #47 whenever you have a chance, LOL. It got buried among all the pics I guess :p.

Oh and tell the Japanese chick in the last miscellaneous posted pic to get out of the way, she doesn't let me see the car (laugh)

Coolmazda5, Sorry I haven't responded to your comments - was very busy recently with personal stuff AND selection, researching pinouts etc. for a Japanese Clarion NX-708 HDD Navigation system into my P5. I'm also in the middle of installing it - not easy. Sheesh you should see all the wires. I'll be posting pics of that too.

In the meantime, enjoy pics of the companions at Tokyo Auto Salon (and I'll respond to the comments - eventually harharhar).
