Defi

This booth was sooo crowded - I didn't even bother trying to get into the showcase area - so many car geeks were in there drooling over the gauges on display. But they did have this Axela and a girl. Enjoy!

Toyota

OK so when I first tried to go to the Toyota booth, it looked like this:

Picture198.jpg

A frickin' sea of people. So I skipped it but then it finally cleared out and I was able to take a look and found basically only 1 car that I thought were worth my time - yes a lowly but nicely souped up Corolla:

And why didn't they just leave this in the junkyard? (uhm)

Work

I thought Work would have some of their racing and lightweight stuff on show, but no, they were going high-end as in bling. So I didn't take pictures of their wheels on display. A little disappointing....

Gazoo - Real race cars!

Now, these I liked! They had on show the real cars - bug splatter, dents, scratches and all! Man the Nordschleife felt close!

Mitsubishi Ralliart

As I've noted in my opening comments, their presence was very limited. Mitsubishi must just be hurting. They also just announced that they will not participate in the Dakar Rally. Wow, for them, that's like Honda pulling out of F1.

The cars though were a big hit by fans and it was a battle just to get these shots.

Parts (I mean, this was it)

Subaru!

They actually had a dismantled WRX on display with the parts strewn up against the wall (neatly). That was pretty cool. A naked WRX harharhar!

And by this point I was getting really tired....so many cars, too many people and not enough time...

Yellow WRX - this actually looked nice (I mean, do the recent WRX's really look nice?)

Obayashi Factory (0-62mph in 3.92s)

Sickly fast machine. Powered by a Kawasaki ZZR-14R engine. If you have a Kawasaki, I guess you can buy the kit to convert it into a Lotus or Corvette beater.

Honda Modulo

I didn't go crazy taking pics of the companion ladies - there was enough competition to get pics of the cars. The girls - fuhgeddaboudit! These 40 to 50 something year-old camera geeks would just go crazy taking pictures of them. But I did manage to take a few myself!

Dunlop

Dunlop too was on the "Ecologically friendly products!!" bandwagon. They had a tunnel where they demonstrated their "quiet tire" technology (it was just a room with sound absorbing panels) and they had a rolling resistance comparison jig in the tunnel that demonstrated their Enasave tires were more efficient. Whatever. In Japan, one doesn't drive enough to care about how much noise or how long a tire lasts or what kind of fuel economy you can get (most of the time you're sitting in traffic anyway...well unless you live in the boonies like Antoine)....

OK enough ranting.... pics!!
