Tokico Shock Question

Ok I am looking at the Tokico Blues and the Illuminas, but I can't decide which ones to get. I like the blues because they slightly stiffer than the OEM ones and I think that the spring rate will match rather nicely with them. As far as the Illuminas are concerned I am not sure how well matched they will be with the stock spring rate. Does anyone here have the Illuminas with the stock spring rate? How do you like em?

Another question I have is, are the fronts just inserts or do they replace the strut housing?

dude just drop it when you get the new struts. you'll get rid of the huge gap between the fender and the tire

Illuminas are adjustable from settings 1 (soft) to 5 (stiff). I'm running Illuminas on stock springs. I find setting 2 on the front and setting 1 or 2 on the back damps the stock springs perfectly. I've also been told the HP's stiffness is somewhere between settings 2 and 3 on the Illuminas.

If you don't plan to autocross or lap or race the car in anyway then the Illuminas are total overkill. Go with HPs.

Not inserts, the Tokicos replace the whole strut.

One more question that I forgot to ask was, are the strokes the same. I would assume they are?...

Between the HPs and the Illuminas? I would think so. They are both designed for our Proteges so you shouldn't have any problems.
