To Rack or Not To Rack.

Hey all...
Well I got my 2003.5(yes I made sure to get that MC1) p5 on Thursday. Laser Blue Mica\leather\auto\moonroof\polished alloy rims. yes fully loaded and very nice. I'm not planning on doing any mods until the warrenty expires. So the only question I have is to install the roof rack or not
1.) does it cover part of the moonroof
2.) how much wind noise does it add?

Well doesn't realy cover the moonroof at all but I personally think there is alot of wind noise. 2003.5 s have a small rubber wind deflector piece that is supposed to cut down on wind noise. right now I have mine off right now for that very reason...wind noise. Only takes about 10 minutes to put on/take off so whenever I need it I throw it on. Welcome to the club. enjoy the car.

yup...makes lots of noise past 60mph...so if you're going to be driving on the freeway a lot don't do it...it makes a really annoyin whistling sound...i reserve mine for carrying two or more bikes...if it's just me i throw my bike in the back

I think that I almost bought your car!

On thursday we purchased a laser blue mica outside of Philly. We really wanted the leather and the dealer said that there was only one available and it had the polished wheels. We wound up taking the showroom model (cloth) and will pick it up on thursday!

Good luck, and your lucky that I didn't push the leather too hard!

I bought my car last week, the dealer forgot to instal the rack, I drove it for a week, got installed and its ok, I do hear it, whistles a little. But, as mentioned by someone else, just turn up the black knob on the stereo!!!!!

My two cents, just buy an aftermarket rack. They have more room, can be placed father up the roof, and can actualy hold stuff. You can get a long box on the stock roof, and I have heard of a lot of people that have problems with stuff interfering with the spoiler. Did your have the rails on it already or do you have to have thought installed too?

Sorry, Can't get a long box on the stock rack. Also, I am beginning to think the noise from the roof rack is because there is no noise insulation in the roof.

It's possible. I bought my car @ open road honda in Edison NJ. But the car was from another dealer on Rt 9. However the car had already been picked up by thursday so they might have meant another dealer. They said that leather can be installed on the car for about a grand. I'd do it if you can afford it.

If you don't want to use the roof rack how do you remove those black plastic strips on top?
