To paint or not to paint, that is the question.

2003 Lazer Blue Protege5
Just got my P5 last week and noticed the brake calipers are kinda rusty and just nasty looking in general. Since they show thru the wheel openings so much I was thinking about painting them with some high heat paint. Just can't decide what color. I'm thinking bright red would look cool but might be just a little blinky for my tastes. Car is the bright lazer blue(think that's what they call it) and I'm thinking that red might kinda clash with the bright blue. Might just go with something more subdued like gloss black or gray. Anything's be better than seeing the cruddy rust. Whatta you all think? Anyone got pics of your car with painted calipers. Sorry in advance if this has been asked a million times before. Just like to see some more pics of painted calipers than I found using search...if you all have any.

i painted mine blac, but i don't liek it, they'll be red in a couple of weeks

Don't paint black or grey, too neutral in a dirty area like that can't never tell if it's dirty or just black. Red is almost always the best choice, or you can go with blue to match.

silver looks good...My boyfriend has a blue mp3 and he painted his calipers silver. I have a red p5 w/red calipers.

I'm not a huge fan of red calipers on a blue car, but the whole point of customizing is doing what you like, so choose what you'll be the happiest with.

damn, silver owuld look good too, ARRR!! i already painted the calipers.. i wonder if i can take the paint off..

Silver or red. Red and blue go perfect... besides, with red calipers people will think you have brembos ;)

silver or black. when you paint them red it makes them look smaller than they are. i painted mine black and the rotors silver. looks clean.

haha he can even get a stensil printed off and put the brembo right on his calipers....lol...lol

no no really i did mine red , and did it by hand , it looks great, and u have a blue car.....damn it would look good

I'd say a nice annodized type silver would look really sharp. If they have available. I need to redo mine. (I have purple calipers on a sunlight silver metallic pro5). The paint is kinda chipping and I didn't use the silver undercoat. I didn't get the back ones done because I couldn't for the life of me get the tires off. Hmm...sounds like a little weekend project coming up. Anyway yeah metallic silver would look cool.

I just finished my wheels (gunmetal) and did my calipers aswell. I went with silver, im happy with the results.

i'm going to have to join the rest of these guys in saying that red would look totally awesome on a blue p5. I'm surprised I haven't seen any suggestions for yellow. Personally, i think yellow looks gerat on a blue, but if you have doubts of red, yellow is probably not for you. I would say go with silver...in my opinion, I just don't see any point in painting them black.

just my two cents.

Wheels look awesome InFlames. I may do mine like that in the future. Did you do 'em yourself or have a body shop paint them, or are they powdercoated?? Nice!

Thanks for all the opinions. I agree, I think red looks sweet but I'm still leaning toward something a little more subdued like silver or black or gray. Maybe a dark gray metallic would look good. I just want it to look cleeeeennnn. Not like a hemmeroid poking out from the between the spokes. j/k :D

i love mine.. they are orange!!!

I painted them red first... last fall. But everyone is doing red.. and I wanted to be different. So I painted orange overtop of the red... I thought i'd have to redo them because of the winter salt/sand but they are still in pretty good condition.. I dont think anyone else has orange calipers. :)

Do silver. The black, after brake dust, will just look dirty or grayish anyway. Silver will look very nice when clean and will still look painted and not just dirty when it's covered in brake dust.

I wouldn't have imagined it, but orange actually looks pretty cool. Very nice Lisakay.

I did them myself with duplicolor wheel paint. It turns out great if your generous with the clear. Ive done this with my SRT and now my p5. i love the look.
