To move or not to move

definitely let it go. report the guy if another instance comes up. plus he's going to have a whole other side of the story for the cops. and admitting you sped up, when you were already going over the speed limit won't help your case.

you probably shouldn't have pulled into work or a parking spot at all. make 4 left or right turns, you'll realize he's obviously following you, then call someone. and notify some people at work what to look out for. letting this guy find out where you work and park your car was a mistake.

Well I work in a very large office park and the majority of people who come off the same exit head to the same place. Only when he followed me all the way my parking spot did I get a little concerned. Part of me wanted to keep going but the other part wanted to see what will happen. If I think someone is following me I will gladly pull over to confront them (unless I think they may be serious trouble). I'm regretting it now obviously. I'll know next time.

Isnt 6th a really tall cruising gear? I mean, it's not like he came from behind you, moved over into a clear lane, and went to pass, then you floored it (in 6th) preventing the pass is it?
You'll be surprised how torqy 6th gear is when cruising at 70mph+

I think you did the right thing not starting a fight with the guy. I realize as I get older that its just not worth it. It's not like he's bangin your wife or anything.

Because of my past road rage incidents, I'd never trust myself to carry a gun in the car. I don't think that would be a good idea. Even in your head if you think you're just defending yourself, you could end up getting hurt or killed or in jail.

Sorry to hear that happened to you man. I think the advice about letting the police know ahead of time is a great idea. Gives your story more credability when the guy tries to deny it.

Semi on-topic, I had a guy this weekend driving in the fast lane and refused to go around cars at all, he would just ride folks until they moved. He would fly up in the left lane and tail gate them hardcore and here comes the part I don't understand. He would put on his left turn signal every single time he wanted someone to move over. I observed this while driving through Ohio for about 15 miles and he did this to no less than 7 cars. Is this an Ohio thing? wtf?

My brother once pissed a dude off who ended up following him so he drove right up to a Circle K and parked next to a cop. The dude got out of his car and started coming at my brother and the cop got out and held him off.

The guy told my bro he was lucky he didn't have his gun because he was so pissed he probably would have shot. The cop told my bro: "he's right, you are lucky he didn't have his gun."

Not supposed to pass on the right -- slower traffic is expected to move over. "Slower Traffic Keep Right" is the ignored rule in Florida.

And if said traffic is doing 85 in a 65 and it's not good enough for the jackass behind them?

Also, any idea about the left turn signal thing?

For one, I highly doubt you've never driven aggressive enough to get a reaction out of someone. Therefore your post holds no weight in my eyes. If you truly haven't, well then my hats off to you. You sir are one very upholding citizen.
How could my post reflect anything having to do with my driving style. Yours obviously proves you are just as much of an ass behind the wheel as the guy trying to pass you. And FYI I have pissed off a driver or two in my days, but I also have a flawless driving record [including no speeding tickets].
Yes, I like to speed up to prevent people from cutting me off. Why? Because there have been numerous times that I HAVE allowed someone to cut in front of me just so I can end up slamming on my brakes because he/she didn't feel like slowing down for the car that was already ahead of me. Cutting people off and passing are two different things. I'd rather him/her cause an accident behind me than ahead of me.
Behind you, ahead of you. It makes no difference if he changes lanes anyway because you accelerated into his blind spot and he runs you off the road at 80mph. Have you ever hit the patch of dirt on the side of the road at 80mph? It's a one way ticket for the jaws of life to come and pull you out.

...and besides, there was no mention of him attempting to cut you off. He was passing you according to your first post....and if you were able to floor it and accelerate that probably proves that you weren't following anyone at the time and he just wanted to get around you and continue at his reckless pace. Your desire to "put him in his place" does no good for the other drivers around you. One reckless driver on the road is bad enough, you don't need to make it worse.

What does having a flawless driving record prove? It doesn't mean s*** as far i'm concerned. If I drive like an ass well (potkettle.

What blind spot? I was kind of hard to miss when directly beside him. The rest of time he clearly saw the rear of my car. Again, this means nothing to me.

I'm sorry I wasn't as detailed as you would like. I think you jumped to a conclusion and had to come in as the token fogey to criticize the OP.

You are entitled to your opinion but it doesn't make you right. The way I drive and the way I deal with other peoples poor driving habits has proven to work 'flawless' and i'll continue to drive like an 'ass' as long as I feel it's safe. I've caused no accidents.

I think the bottom line is both of you were being dicks on the road. On that, you're square.

Following you to your parking space and threatening physical harm and damage to your property, that's taking it to the next level.

The left turn signal is a bit strange. Maybe he wanted the car in front to move over so he could pass left. I usually just flash my lights.

As for the 85 in a 65 -- If I'm running 85 in the left lane and someone's gainin' on me, I'll move over. If the right lane is clear, I'll be running 85 in the right lane, whether someone's gainin' or not. I won't move left to get out of someone's way. They gotta go 'round on the left.

lol...no idea. If I thought the guy was as much as a wacko as this one I probably would of stayed away.

It reminds me of when I took the truck route from Boston to South Carolina. I would be doing 90 and those rigs would come flying right up behind me. At least they had the decency to give me a warning flash before shoving their turbos up my ass.

You should have wooped his ass, Sounds like a punk that is trying to be tough but is a wuss. Was he in your face? If someone ever got in my face I would headbut him in the face or have a phone book in your car and beat him with that... lol. Sorry to hear that though man, I would have drove to a buddies house and had all this happen there so there is a witness

What blind spot? If you change speed after someone is passing you and they don't look hard left (which is common for people weaving between lanes) they will side swipe you since you are no longer in their rear view mirror and they weren't expecting you to gun it.

...but feel free to drive as reckless as you want. I obviously can't stop you but sooner or later your habits will catch up with you.

... what are you guys from BOSTON!??

if you just let him go believe me you would have forgotten this happened like it should have been forgotten this thread wouldn't be here and you wouldn't be agitated... i know cuz i've gotten myself into a mess like that like we all have at one point or another... and you'll be glad in the future...

after having to drive slow for a long period you notice a majority of the people on the highway & main roads drives like complete effin' morons like this guy.

maybe you need a day at the track??? It has really helped calm me.

Yea he kept saying that if he got out of his car he would do something. I managed to convince him to get out and sure enough he got right in my face but didn't do anything. I couldn't believe how the guy was acting... someone who is 2x my age. I think he even told me that he gets laid more than me. lol

he was clearly driving his lexus recklessly to make up for his shortcomings...

I don't drive anymore reckless than the next guy man. I'm always hovering over the speed limit and I never pull any stunts unless I have to. Every once in awhile i'll prevent someone from cutting me off, big deal.
