O'h yeah one more thing that could cause the noise, the nipple on the top hat needs to be turned towards the back of the strut and inline with the metal fin that goes down into the wheel hub base. That will ensure that the top hat is sitting correctly...kinda hard to explain but you will figure it out after looking at it...good luck!
What is it that you don't understand?I wish I understood this...
the nipple on the top hat Which nipple?needs to be turned towards the back of the strut and inline with the metal fin that goes down into the wheel hub base. That will ensure that the top hat is sitting correctly...kinda hard to explain but you will figure it out after looking at it...good luck!
I don't have any pic's, the nipple sticks out on the very outer edge of the top hat/strut bushing..or upper strut assembly (it has a couple different names) that mounts to the car. you will see it if you have the strut off the car.pictures?

Glad I could help.problem solved.. thx "Remspeed3"

Nah, its to help you align the upper bushing, you have to make sure the springs and the upper bushing are in the correct position and remain that way when you start to tighten the top nut.Oh, I thought that the little nipple was for lining up the top of the spring.
