2003 Mazda 6i
Ok well im just now starting my Senior year in High School! yay me haha
anyways my dad said if i get all a's this year he will buy me pretty much any used car.. (this will be easy as pie all i have are Electives) but well i wanted a true Mazda 6 owners Opionion on this.. im planing on getting a 6 hopefully and wanted to know what to look for. I want a Manual of course and a MAZDASPEED6 :p but awd or better choice? Thanks in advance for this! and im looking forward to moving from the protege to the sexy 6

whelp, if your looking at a mazdaspeed you have no options really. AWD and stick are the only way it comes.

your option comes down to Sport or GT. and those are just creature comforts like bose, leather, etc. good luck getting your pops to spring $20+k on a used car. if he's anything like my dad you would be getting a new hyundai or something...but then again my parents didn't buy me a car, i actually had to WORK to get stuff....from my first TV at age 13 all the way up to the ripe old age of 26. [/bitching about kids these days]

oh really? lol ok well then it shouldn't be to hard :P but ya.. 20k is kinda big o.o but then again.. he said straight A's and a Graduation Gift so maybe :D unlike my Salvaged title 03 Protege lx

I paid $17,700 for my 06 MS6 Sport with 11,000 miles in January of this year.

My graduation gift was that my folks helped out with $3000 a year in college costs (I had a scholarship for the other $14,000/year---1984 dollars, Ivy League school). I turn around and thank them by becoming one of the most overeducated firefighters in America.

Ease the pain of that 20k by getting a part time job & saving your ass off & make all A's then apply for a gazillion scholarships. He'll be proud of ya for throwing in to help with $$, and then could hardly argue against a MS6. I know it'd be that way for me & my kids... if I was willing to pop for their cars, which I'm not. You should remember that you're a lucky HS kid.

I think its great that you've got an idea, but personally, I'd wait on the turbo car a few years because you'll appreciate it more in the long run. The modding bug can bite people hard, and it's not a cheap avenue to run. I've bought two new cars since I was 18, my Pro and my MS6, and I'm glad I waited until now to get the MS6. If I had that car when I was 18-19, I don't think the car would still be in one piece. Not saying I'm a bad driver, but to move up to a more powerful vehicle at that age isn't a wise move IMO. I'd suggest getting a 6i/6s with a 5 speed and go from there. The Protege is nice, but the 6 is a much nicer car overall. Good luck.

I was in your shoes about two years ago and they told me I could get a new MS6 for grad I had a Turbo PT in high school and instead I got a MZ3 I didn't want to bring a loaded 6 to school and I took out a loan on my car and am making a monthy payment instead of having my parents pay for it they are helping with school and thats all I wanted and I'm glad I got the 3 better gas millage insurance is totally cheaper and I feel better knowing I am paying for my car after my three is paid off I want to get a MS6 but if they come out with the 09 and I love it I might be trading it in a little early.

I bought a Protege at 18 after the dealer sold the MSP I was supposed to pick up that night with my father. Ended up nearly paying it off before selling it, and picking up a new '07 MS6 in Jan, at 22 yrs old. The price was unbeatable, walking out the door for just over 20K for the car. Never tell yourself you can't do something, just sit down and figure a way to do it. Even if its not attainable right now, plan for it and it'll happen.

I wanted the MS6 since the day I saw it at the NAIAS in 2006. Just took me a lot of planning financially and sacrifices on petty things to be able to afford it.
