It's that time... when the crapyears are about worn out. I have heard a lot of good things about the Kumho Esca ASX here. This is an all season tire and since I am in central Texas (snow....what's that?). I am looking for a tire that is good in the dry and is not totally scary in the rain. I would like to fit 215/XX-17 (I will be upgrading my wheels to 18s the next time), I'll figure the aspect ratio when I narrow the list of tires.

The Ecsta ASX are regarded as an all-season tire but they are also from the Ultra High Performance line from Kumho and are excellent in dry, wet and snow.

There are at least a half dozen threads of people talking about them. Look around a bit.

yeah one big reason i got them is because thir grip on wet surfaces. i am more scared of the rain than the snow.
wet traction is excellent. there are a few recent threads with the same info .
just do a search for "ECSTA ASX"

I'm sorry if I didn't make the question clear. I have read most of the threads regarding the ASX, and have also read the Tire Rack tests for it. I am looking for an alternitive that is not snow rated, as I will not need it. A summer tire will provide a little better grip in the dry and better turn in response. From all of the threads on the forum it sounds like the ASX is an excellent match for the 3s. Similar to how the Dunlop D60 complimented the Miata, it offered the perfect balace for that car.
The ASX is on the top of my list (the 215/50-17 is even the same diameter -0.1" as the stock RS-A), I just like to have alternitives.
Thanks,
