tire sizes on a MSP

wondering the biggest tire i can put on a mazdaspeed protoge.
i'm looking at 18" SSR competitions. and either a 215/35/18 (Reccomended)

or if i can get a 225/40/18....stock suspension. maybe with a light drop 1.3-1.5" or so this comming spring. on stock suspension..how close to rubbing would i get with either of these tires? when it's lowered?

18" is no problem at all without lowering!.
Depending on what type of suspension you wish to run is a different story.
Even if you wanted to go 19", it's fine. 215/35/19 that is.
The Wings West Protege is running Perilli's P7000 with that size tire and with just sport springs as a lowering kit. With just sport springs, i don't think it will be lowered than 1.5".

If you plan on going wider, i don't suggest 225/40/18.
I think 225/35/18 is better. But who makes this size, you'll need to do some research. It's out there though.

Sounds like a question for Rishie or Sean ar Auto R&D. Do a search for Wheelguru or ARD MP5. I don't think 225/35 will fit.
