jayka, if you want, you can use a 205 with no problems....HOWEVER, I would suggest using a 205/50 not the 205/45. either tire is going to make your speedo off a tiny bit....1.7% to be exact...thus if you use the 50 series tire when you are showing 60....you will really be going 61....but if you use the 45 series tire, when you are showing 60 you will actually be going 59.....if you use the taller tire....your REAL gas mileage will go up the tinyest bit....the 45 will make it go down.jayka said:What size of tires should I use on stock wheels?
Can I go for 205/45/16 if my car is lowered with tein stech?
OR should I stick with the stock size 195/50/16?
I'm putting on all season tires for winter.
you are talking about only 10 mm more contact patch....you won't be able to tell the performance difference....jayka said:Is there much performance difference between 195/50 and 205/50??
Like, 205 grips better on cornering? If there's not much difference, i'll stick with the 195's cuz they r cheaper![]()
i have 205/50/16 with goldline springs 2" drop ... they dont rub at all ... performance ... there was NO difference for me ... however something to consider..Sir Nuke said:you are talking about only 10 mm more contact patch....you won't be able to tell the performance difference....
you are much better off with all of them matching....jayka said:Can I put a pair of dunlop sp5000 with other kind of tires like toyo, yoko, bridgestone???
OR should I put all the same kind of tires on 4 wheels?
Below is an excerpt from Douggie:jayka said:Is there much performance difference between 195/50 and 205/50??

Douggie said:There are advantages and disadvantages of getting a wider tire.
(+):
1. Better dry grip, handling
2. MAY protect your rim from curbs (again, maybe)
3. Looks better
(-):
1. More resistance to overcome = worse gas mileage
2. If you're using all seasons and drive on snow, the increase in contact area will reduce the pressure applied on the snow, so your car will not dig as deep into the snow = less traction
3. Might have more tire flex when cornering
4. Might be more noisy
5. Usually more expensive
BUT, this it's only a 10mm difference between 195 and 205, so you probably won't see much difference in real life. So go either go for the looks or just save your $ and stick to the original size![]()

you should see how bad three of her rims are........thats why she does not drive my car much......
As I see it, there are two distinctive benefits of the 205/50 vs. the 195/50. The 205 has a greater load index (87 vs. 83) and much greater selection (37 vs. 6 choices at TireRack). This greater selection actually allows for a much less expensive tire, if that is the goal.jayka said:Is there much performance difference between 195/50 and 205/50??

A Kumho Ecsta ASX Tire is $69 for 195/50.. $86 for 205/50 (@ tirerack)mp5user said:As I see it, there are two distinctive benefits of the 205/50 vs. the 195/50. I upgraded the OEM 195/50's with 205/50 Pirelli PZero Nero's and realized a very noticable performance improvement. As added benefit, I replaced the tires, with the Pirelli's for $80 less than the cost of OEM replacements.
Ah, but the 205/50 Kumho Ecsta 711 is $53 (@TireRack) . . . $69 is the lowest price for 195/50 (@TirRack). I was using speed rating of V+ as the only criterion other than size, i.e. not restricted to "All Season".badboyeee said:A Kumho Ecsta ASX Tire is $69 for 195/50.. $86 for 205/50 (@ tirerack)
I also think any other tire that fits our cars would show better performance than our stock dumblops.![]()
Ah, but a 195/50 Kumho Ecsta 711 is $51 (@TireRack).. save 2 bucks!mp5user said:Ah, but the 205/50 Kumho Ecsta 711 is $53 (@TireRack) . . . $69 is the lowest price for 195/50 (@TirRack). I was using speed rating of V+ as the only criterion other than size, i.e. not restricted to "All Season".
A OEM load index of 83 is inadequate for the P5 IMHO. I'm not entirely happy with the 205/50 load index of 87 and am considering going to 205/55 with a load index of 91 and 96! choices (@TireRack).
Ah, but the 195/50 Kuhmo Ecsta 711 only has a H speed rating. Spend the extra 2 bucks and get a bigger tire with a Z speed rating!badboyeee said:Ah, but a 195/50 Kumho Ecsta 711 is $51 (@TireRack).. save 2 bucks!![]()
Ah! but the 205/50 Kuhmo Ecsta 711 only has a 260 treadwear rating while the 195/50 has 320. So the 195/50 will save you more than just 2 bucks in the long run since they last longer! And since when can our cars go over 130+ mph anyways?mp5user said:Ah, but the 195/50 Kuhmo Ecsta 711 only has a H speed rating. Spend the extra 2 bucks and get a bigger tire with a Z speed rating!
