tire size question

quick question, and i'm sure it's been answered, i just can't find it... will 225/45s rub on stock wheels and stock suspension?

and yes, i did a search.... so kiss off..... searching this site stinks!

I think it depends on the tire; some run fatter than others. I debated going either 225/45 or 235/40 on my RX-8s (similar offset, an inch wider) and went with 235/40 to play it safe.

Yeah the search function leaves a lot to be desired for sure. As for your question all you're going to get is some that dont rub, and some that do. I ran into the same issue when deciding on 235/40's for my rx8's. I can definitely say that I have had no rubbing issues so far, even with the kids in the back. Now 3 full size adults would most likely be a different story. It is really a close fit between the outside edge of the tire, and the inside edge of the fender well. Here is some info that might be helpful.

Specification - Sidewall - Radius - Diameter - Circumference - Revs/Mile - Difference - Width Inches
215/45-18 - 3.8in - 12.8in - 25.6in - 80.5in - 787 - 0.0% - 8.46
225/40-18 - 3.5in - 12.5in - 25.1in - 78.8in - 804 - -2.1% - 8.86
235/40-18 - 3.7in - 12.7in - 25.4in - 79.8in - 794 - -0.8% - 9.25
225/45-18 - 4.0in - 13.0in - 26.0in - 81.6in - 777 - 1.4%

well, it's a done deal.... got a smoking deal on a set of goodyear eagle GTs....

i looked at the 225 in that brand (and i think someone has posted here saying the eagles would rub in the 225), and i don't see how they wouldn't rub on the inside. i think it all depends on the brand. some tires, the edges are shaped differently. i went with the standard 215....

i went with these tires, after doing a lot of research, and decided they were the best fit for my needs. at first glance, the ride has improved, and they are quieter...... and the rain performance is very good...

i'll give a more thorough review after i've had them for a bit.
