tire size help!!

i am not to educated on tire sizes i have 18x8 size rims with 225 40 r18 size tires...my tires rub in wheel wells!!! i was hopeing to do some kind of streach where the tire wall angle more.. what size tire should i go with? 205 40, 215 40, or 205 45, 215 45???? has any body has similer issues?

no im not lowered stock msp springs and i am unsure of the offset between 40 to 55 i beleive... i have 18x8.5 volks racing evoIII wheels
