Laugh all you want, but, If I do not install tpms on replacement tire or spare. what occurs besides the possible warning light. Could i drive around with an original wheel in the hatch and get a signal or does the system look for all four tires to be pressurized.

Bottom line, there is no way to fake it out that just buying a second set of sensors won't be easier and probably cheaper. Break open the piggy bank or learn to live with the light.

buy rims that will work with tmps:P
whats worng with this light?? you all always are turning of traction control and have yellow light

I was worried the Mazda Ecu deciding i could not drive over forty mile per hour or something! But I do leave dcs engaged when it is raining wisnia, just to let you know.ha The car drives fine thanks guys

So no performance problems at all without the TPMS? If so, that's great news.

I have other performance problems but the issue of limiting speed is not one of them. I accidently hit 120 on a long open back road the other day testing the new tires. sorry moderators. But the warning has not affected speed for sure. I will feel better with them back in, at next tire change. just the same

How dare you (hah)(no)

If you buy rims w/o TPMS, does the light come on instantly once you start driving - saying that there aren't any sensors?

Basically I bought some used O.Z. Ultraleggera rims and supposedly they don't have TPMS... they were off the seller's '06 Acura RSX. I'm now up to about 15 miles, no light for TPMS has come on. ??

Hey 333, i have not taken the stock tires off the stock wheels yet. I bought a tire wheel, mounted and balanced package from Element wheels a ways back. Never even thinking about the sensors. Not smart me much. Upon start up the light will start to flash and flashes for awhile. Eventually it stays solid and blends well with dsc light disengaged light right underneath. No doubt wisnia. At least the cel has not returned since adjustments. that even though same color as other warning lights, just seemed to irritate my psyche a little. I believe the sensors are generally transferable from wheel to wheel as long as they are mounted on the same four corners, but I will not prove true till next summer. just my experience and alot of opinion at the end

Anyone know what new TPMS costs? I'm looking to order new wheels and tires, but still want to keep my factory set intact. I'd rather not have a warning light.

about $50-60ea. check tire rack they have them. you can run without them. I'm not adding them to my winter set up as it's just not worth it.

The dealer quoted me just under $90 each, Discount quoted $70, but wasn't sure they'd work properly. Interestingly, when I put my RX-8 wheels and 225/45 tires on, I was prepared to follow the process to get the sensors talking to the ECU again, but I didn't have to. I wonder if that's because the sensors never got more than 10' or so from the car?

There are some sensors on EBay for a bit under $60 each.

My winter tires/wheels are used, off an RX8... I picked them up, put them on, never had to do a thing.. they just work.

Oh, and this took about a hundred miles for the system to recognize that there aren't any sensors. Now I get the light on the dash, and honestly it doesn't bother me. if it was beeping, then I may be annoyed.

The sensors can be purchased for $44 ea. from Discount Tire. Still expensive, but cheaper than other places that sell them.

FYI - On the subject of TPMS sensors...

The computer for your TPMS will only recognize one set of sensors at a time. If you purchase a new set of sensor, Mazda will have to enter the individual numbers into the computer as "set B" for the system to recognize them. They charge $88 to do this. When you want to put your other set of wheels/tire/sensors on, you have to pay Mazda $44 to switch the computer to recognize set A again!

I guess I will be living with the TPMS light.
