This is how my VHT tinting looked for my 2000 dodge dakota. the red area was coated with 5 layers (very dark!), the white areas were only 2 coats.
Just remember, it is all in the prep work. Clean, sand 600 grit, clean, sand with finer paper 800 grit, clean, make sure surface is smooth and evenly sanded, mask and spray. Let dry 1 hr between coats, b/c this stuff does darken a little as it dries. add coats until desired darkness achieved. Wet sand with 1000 grit paper, clean. let fully dry. spray on 2 layers of clear coat paint. wet sand with 1500 grit paper to make it glass smooth. final step is to add a layer or 2 of wax, once the final peices are fully dry. The wax really makes them "pop"
