Tint is illegal...oh well

Well, there is also the security issue of police approaching a vehicle and not being able to see in. It just sucks that there are bad people out there and the rest of us have to suffer because of it.

But I sure do love tint.

They have megaphones in their cars that they can use to ask people to roll their windows down. I honestly don't see why that's a problem.

I learned some valuable information about getting a ticket for tinted windows. I live in Michigan, where our tint laws are strict and it is illegal to have tint on the front windows (windshield and driver and passenger front side windows). I have 5% tint on everything except the windshield and I recently got pulled over for it. I've had tint on all my cars for the past 2 years and have never gotten a ticket till now. Anyways, after calling the police station to see what I had to do, I found out that I could
a) Pay to have the tint removed and have a cop inspect my car and sign it off
b) Simply mail in a receipt showing that I had my tint removed

So all I'm going to do is have my tint shop print up a receipt saying that I had my tint removed (no way in hell I'll actually have them take it off) and mail that in. Even better, I don't have to pay for tint removal or any fines.

Now I need to see if I can get a note from an optometrist so that I can have my license changed so that I can legally have my tint. Anyone know any place where I can get this?

Weird really. Here in WA I have seen unmarks with full tint black as night.

Isn't the beat down some guy is getting in Gerard's avatar illegal?

His avatar is a scene from the movie "Office Space." He's beating up a copier that always jammed.

Watch the movie. You'll understand. Or do they not get it in Canada? :p

Yeah, me too. Undercover coppers maybe? DEA or something probably.

I always stare at them really hard. :)

43% is really really light

hell of a lot darker than nothing though....you can actually go a little lower with not much to worry about. if you have 25% or lower you will get fined and you will have to remove.....

Yeah I'm looking to get somewhere in the 25%-50% range. Not doin it for looks so much as protecting the black interior from fading and cooler inside temps if the car's been sitting for a while...

Ya, tint does wonders for protecting your interior and keeping the temps down. If I park so the sunlight doesn't come in the windshield, my car is just warm even if it's been in the sun all day. I had a car w/o tint before and it would just turn into an oven...everything that was metal was too hot to touch.

well I have a sun shade for the windshield. and that alone has really improved the interior after the car's sitting for a while. Don't gotta worry about burnin hot steering wheel anymore!

A shop is not allowed to tint anything darker than the legal limit allowed by law. The UHP - Utah Highway Patrol - did a sting with some local shops. Undercover, they tried to get illegal tint. If they did, the fine was HUGE, $40K.

It is an officer safety issue. If you have ever pulled over a vehicle with limo tint, it is a little nerve racking. You don't know if there is a pistol pointed directly at your head. I totally understand cops writing tickets for illegal tint.
