Do the cam gears have to be put into the correct slots? If so which ones do they go on?

I just did the cam seals and crank seal(leaking oil like crazy), which lead me to this problem

on the cam gears there are 2 slots behind where the bolt goes to hold the cam gear on

i got it. took me a minute to figure out but. if it helps for anyone else who was confused with the timing. the dowel looking thing on the camshafts themselves must be straight up(these are behind the cam gears)and the cam gears should be put on with the "E" on the exhaust cam gear facing to the left and the "I" on the intake came be facing to the right with the timing marks next to each other. the timing gear on the crank(behind the crank pulley) must have the crank key slot facing straight up. then put the belt on tighten it down and it will start right up(if done correctly)
