94 SOHC
Hi,

I changed the spark plugs, cap, rotor; in my 94, 4 banger SOHC, and i cant get rid of the engine shaking. It's terrible, when i'm at a stoplight, i can feel my teeth shaking.

What's wrong with this car? Does the timing need to be adjusted? throttle body bad?

Much appreciated.

What's a cap, rotor, and a SOHC?

LOL Gotta remember this is the Protege5 section of the board - we don't have any of that stuff!

But to be serious. If you have changed the cap, and rotor. You might want to check you spark plug wires if the vibration is heavy.

Ensure that they are properly seated on the plugs and on the cap. Also make sure that they are in the correct order.

I don't think it's a timing problem but rather upon reassembly you missed pluging in a sensor, or didn't plug in the wires snugly, or a vacuum line was dislodged. I'm assuming you did the work yourself cause if you paid someone to do it I doubt you would've driven home in that state. Give it a better look over and check for any of the above things I mentioned.

ermm... you *really* ought to be posting in the 1st gen section, not some random place like here

Assuming the cap and rotor were installed correctly, it sounds to me like you swapped a pair of plug wires or one is not connected properly. In any case, this should never happen with a standard tune-up. Diagnose and fix the problem before you drive the car any more.

Peace...(hippy)

nope plug wires are ok...i started out with 3 and 4 in the wrong place but all good now..

ok i did an oil change and pujt some mobile higher mileage oil in it.. There's considerably less vibration, but still a little bit of shaking..
