hey guys, first off let me apologize for not searching the topic first but it is a bit of a time sensitive issue.

but i'm wondering what the easiest method is to replace the 02 sensor in the manifold? i haven't had a chance to look under the hood either as the car is not near by. from memory....do i need to remove the heat shield first? will a wrench fit on it w/out taking off the heat shield.....i need the quickest method possible. anyone have that socket that goes over the 02 sensors? can you use it with the heat shield in place.

thanks for the help. much appreciated.

its easier to take the sheild off to get to it. theres only 4 bolts that hold that on. also pretty sure the socket wont fit with the shield anyway.

Take a pair of channel locks and gently grab ahold of the sensor and un screw it (it does not have to be where the nut is. it can be back on the round silver piece). Then take and un plug it. then plug in the new sensor take and screw it in then tighten it up with a wrench or socket if you can get it in there. if not BE GENTLE and tighten it back up. I have done mine this way several times with out breaking it and by not having to remove the heat shield. I must say once more BE CAREFUL!

I had to do the same thing and I Cut the heat sheild at the bottom of the O2 opening so I could remove it easier the next time. No side effects that I know of and it makes tightening the manifold bolts much less time consuming. just my .02

I pulled mine off many times w/o removing the 02 or cutting it. And it is possible to just pull it back and get to all of the bolts to tighten up the exhaust manifold w/o removing it.
