Time for new Rotors/Pads.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking I'd get some StopTech slotted rotors and EBC Redstuff all around. They both seem to have good reviews, just wanted some opinions from people that might be using em on our cars.
 
Sounds like a good set up. I thought for sure after 25k of hard miles (several fun runs and TOD trips) my front stock pads would be shot. I got some EBC Red pads and went to install and still had over 13mm of pad left on the front. Lucky me I guess. let us know what you get and how it works out.
 
Well I've got close to 38k miles on the car and the rear rotors are pretty close to shot (With new rotors comes new pads of course). Figured while I'm at it I'll save the hassle of changing the front ones at a later time.

I just recently spoke to Ken from Protege Garage about Redstuff pads. He said that while they are a wonderful pad, he recommended the Hawk HPS instead. His recommendation was based on me not doing any track time and being in a moderate climate. I would imagine with the cold weather you can have where you are, you may want to reconsider the Redstuff pads. I've gathered that they don't grip too well in the cold. Unless you plan to do some track time, you could probably save a little bit of cash and get the Hawk HPS pads.

By the way, you could probably work out a great deal on the pads and rotors with Protege Garage. They are pretty awesome about discounting package deals.

You must be driving the piss out of your car. I've got close to 50k and i've still got life left in my brakes.
Although I do have the protege garage setup sitting on the floor waiting to be installed.

You know, you're not the first to tell me that about the unusual wear on the rotors. I get the feeling that the guy who owned the car before me beat on it quite a bit more than I wished to acknowledge. I bought the car with just over 24k miles, and while I do drive the car quite a bit, it's mostly casual highway driving.

I wish I had thought about going through protege garage, I just ordered the pads/rotors through the local shop here, compared to online prices, he gave me a pretty good deal.

edit - If I find out that I don't like the EBC Redstuff - I'll just drive em till I can't stand them anymore and move on to another set of pads :)

i have redstuff in the rears they grip fine in cold and hot, the description of redstuff brakes on the box are pretty ideal for our cars i'd say
 
What's the cost to replace the OEM pads, anyone? Mine will be up by the end of summer and I guess it's time to start looking at options. The HPS seem nice, and I don't think they're squeakers. I'd be shocked if they dust more than the OEM's.
 
Update on this:

Got my Stoptech rotors and EBC Redstuff pads installed on the car (2 days ago). So far I give a big two thumbs up to the setup. I took the chance to paint the calipers and bleed the brake lines while I had the car lifted.

Only thing is, I now get a slight squeak when turning slightly left or right at speeds under 35 MPH. On sharper turns (or while driving faster) I don't seem to get the noise. I can't seem to pinpoint where the contact noise is coming from - Anyone have an idea?
 
Have someone check the bearings...I had to replace DS. It started as a squeek then went to grinding sound. Nasty stuff if that goes.
 
Rotora Slotted Rotors & StopTech Posi-Quiet Ceramic Pads. Badass combo. Dead quiet, hella bite and no fade. I auto-x and my car is my DD and this setup is top notch.
 
Figured out what my problem was. It was a combination of the bedding process and the fact that the anti-squeal pads on the back of the pads weren't enough. Had to take em off and use the grease.
Now that they're bedded properly, I can't say enough about this setup - good grip, quiet, big two thumbs up.

I looked up the cost at Autozone .... somewhere around $30 or something like that.

I ended up not needing to change them so I returned them (tons of friction material left at 30k).

I remember the price being not that bad....
 
I think my eventual setup will be Stoptech slotted or drilled rotors and Hawk HPS pads. I had extremely good luck with the Hawk pads on my Protege, and my father used them on his F-350 while towing and they held up well too. And, one bonus, they keep the dust to a minimum.
 
Also, check out Tripoint Engineering. They have some pretty good prices and brake pads and rotors. Additionally, you can get $15 off if your order is greater that $150. I just bought some centric rotors with posi-quiet ceramic pads and with the discount came out to just over $150 shipped (thumb)

i dont see anything for a speed 6?
