Need some quick help...
1) It's time for an oil change in the MSP and I need some suggestions on the best procedures and products to use...
2) Is it a good idea, at the time of an oil change, to add any fuel additives?
3) How about changing the tranny fluid at every oil change?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks in advance!!!

How many miles do you have?

Changing the oil on this car is a piece of cake. Grab some mobil 1, redline, amsoil, royal purple, etc. 5w-30 oil for colder months / 10w-30 for summer months. I think capacity is 3.75qts, so you'll buy 4.

I like the Purolator Pure1 filters, but OEM mazda filters are great if you can get them cheap.

I wouldn't worry about fuel additives and it's a waste to change the tranny fluid that frequently...especially if you put in Redline or other synthetic gear oil.

Spark plugs are supposedly due at 30K miles.

Well said Dave.
1. Any synthetic 5W30 is good. OEM, K&N, Pure 1 filter.
2. Fuel additives are not recommended in the owners manual due to having a turbo.
3. Tranny fluid each oil change is a total waste of time and $.

The car has 15k miles on it...
I'm not sure about what the previous owner used for tranny fluid...so I'll probably change that this week for good measure...I read a recent post about what to do about changing the tranny fluid and I'm still a little confused about what is the best product to use...Maybe you guys have a quick hint to help out...
Thanks again!!!

Transmission fluid in a manual transaxle is designed to last a long time. With only 15,000 miles on it, your's should be fine. check your level to make sure its full. A lot of members seem to like GM synchromesh. Its a pricey though.

Personal experience here

1). I use Mobil 1 synthetic 5-30. I live up north, so I run this year round. I use oil filter that you can buy from automotive store. Filter are basically the same, the $$ one just let you have a longer drain period. I change mine religiously so I just pick up a fram or purlator oil filter.

My procedure:
*Oil change procedure, warm the engine.
*drain the oil.
*grab some paper towels and twist off the filter. if you want use some old rags to coverup the exhaust piping (they can leave a mark).
*oil up the new filter put it back, hand tighten it
*make sure the oil drain plug is back on. fill the oil up. I put in about 3.5 qts first
*run the engine for a while. turn it off and measure the oil level add more if you need to.

2.) fuel addtive don't use it so can't tell

3.) Chang your tranny every 30k if you want to change it regularly. I changed mine around 13k and I'm probably gonna change it again at around 40k. I used royal purple.

have fun. If you want to change tranny fluid, use a funnel with a long tube and get a 33mm socket.
