Time for coilovers

It's that time to start looking at a set of coilovers i. Was set on some bc racing set but after talking to Ken from protege he suggested. The speed yellow now I'm not looking for anything crazy nothing more then maybe 1200. Dollars really would like yo stay under a g any suggestions with what u guys are running and how low it gets your speed i want about an inch i'n back and maybe an 1.5 i'n front please be nice

Thanks John

i will be nice, if you go lower than an inch you might create havoc with your suspension geometry and will need to get the right parts to correct. there are reports of cv joints and ball joint problems. the Mcpherson design is good but you need to get the roll centers, bump stops and such corrected that low. Do alot of research before spending the cash. a speed shop might be able to help you prepare. if you just want to get a little lower check out spring options. i have coil overs but i still have not installed because of some the reasons i mentioned and the Cobb springs have in there are treating me very well. There are some decent companies making coilers out there if you do go that route. Any of the recognized names should be worth a look
good luck John

for the drop your looking for you might as well just go with H&R springs, cuz it's 1.4 front and 1.3 rear...I love my stance it's just perfect!

^Agreed. I will say this... you're going to need an alignment. When I get back from South Carolina... I'm going to need 4 new tires (needed anyways) and a 4-wheel alignment. I'm showing some pretty aggressive negative camber wear on the inside edge.

crazy drop for looks=kiss your good stock handling goodbye.
Coilovers under a grand=cheap garbage. Look at the KW v1's and the price. Those are good quality, basic coilovers. Then compare those to coilvers that are like $700. There's a reason the cheap coilovers are so much cheaper.

Are you just getting coilovers for the drop? If so, as someone said, just get the drop springs you want and get it overwith. IF you want better handling, coilovers will aid that, but don't do more than .8" drop or you're going to lose more suspension travel and screw up geometry (as someone above said)

i suppose it depends on your goal doesnt it? some folks are boulevard cruisers, and others like me are trying to extract the best performance i am able. And of course there is all the in between too. that one and a half + drop is a good look with the right spacing/offset on 235s.
KW variant might be the best. BC are the usual suspect, Tein has some offerings and there are plenty more. and lots of springs to choose from. That is part of the fun.
so Polski whatcha thinking?

Tein basics would be the cheapest I would go. If you got with an extreme drop, expect some scary bouncing.

I've been talking to one of the members and i think i'n going yo go with the bc coilovers
I'm going to order them i'n about two weeks thanks every one for all the input anything more on bc or what ever i would love to hear
