I did an early oil and filter change with Mobil 1 synthetic oil and M1 filter. No leaks and the level is full.

Drove home from service garage (not lube place) and when the car went to idle there was a loud ticking noise I could hear in the cabin. Opened the hood and I could tell the ticking noise was coming from the top passenger side from the corner of the valve cover closest to the firewall. Rechecked everything and there isn't anything I can see from the outside and still no leaks.

Started is s few hours later after it had cooled off. No ticking. Let it warm up and still no ticking. Looked up ticking lifters and found that older CX-5s with many miles on them have had issues with the Hydraulic Lash Adjusters that are related to cylinder de-activation. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I loved a comment by one person that said every time he replaces the oil and filter it does it but then it goes away. I think the direct quote is "after everytiime i put fresh oil it dies a lil but comes back....i used to worry about it......right now i would probably worry if i didn't hear it".

Anyone else experience this? I have an appointment to take the car in to the dealer but if it isn't doing it all the time, it sure won't do it at the dealer ;)

I have not had that issue..i have done over 10 oil changes myself and never have had that happen on my 23.

I did an oil change on my 25 not long ago at 674 miles to get the factory oil out of the engine. I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary after the oil change and and starting up the engine. Not sure what to tell you. When I do oil changes to any of my vehicles, I run the engine for a bit to get the engine oil warmed up before dropping the drain plug.

The oil was warm, since I had just driven to the service garage. I also pre-filled the oil filter. When I started the car at the shop, it didn't make any noise.

I think there was an issue with an air bubble on one of the HLA's or something. Would have to search to find specifics. But I thought that issue was corrected so it shouldn't happen on a new car.
