Thunking noise in rear end!

MP3intheSTL

YEAH!!!

2001 lazer blue MP3
Sorry everyone but I need help. I was reading a post and it said to do a search for CLUNK or THUNK. I can't find anything can anyone post a link or something. I'm taking my car to mazda today after work because the rear end sounds like it's going to fall off the car.

Yup it's a pretty widely successful solution(tho I think some people had problems even after having them replaced). I believe that the fix is even an official thing that your dealer can find out about...they order some larger replacement bushings and no more clunking. :)

Thanks

what's^ took the MP3 to mazda last night for the rear end. should find out today what deal is. Hopfully they will not give me any trouble.
thanks for the replys...

I lost track how many bushings I've had replaced.....5...6? Anyhow, I'm due for another now. Mazda apparantly has known of a fix for almost 3 months....but, their waiting on the new bushings to be made STILL?

I find when I get new bushings, it only lasts about 5-6 weeks, and i need another set. OR, just take the bushings off, clean them up, and the swaybar too, wrap tape around the sway bar and put the bushings on over the tape. Both methods last the same amount of time for me. Keep in mind though, my roads are a lot bumpier then you guys, and my climate is wetter, and colder, so they wear faster for me.

later..

The only good solution until they have a new bushing made is to put a small rubber piece under the bushing to make the bushing hold tighter on the sway bar. My dealer did that the last winter and I didn't had any problem since.

Mine

HAve been Messed up for like 6000 miles, I just hope the back end dont fall off? will it? I was waiting for a permanent fix to go down before wasting time to go like 10 times for same thing? Am I safe doing that?

bushings

I just got the bushings replaced yesterday they had my car for
2 1/2 days, but I got a rental car from the dealer, they gave me
a bright green Escort this car was uuuuuuuuugly.
Anyway it was the rear sway bar bushing they replaced them
no problem. The car seems to drive alot stiffer now.
I sure don't miss that Clunking noise. lets just see how long they
last.

I just got back from having mine fixed and damn does it make a big difference :D Handles much much better for me, smoother but stiffer if that makes sense to you guys... I'm very excited that I found a dealership that is responsive and respectful. they acknowledged the problem, checked everything out...fixed it and were very nice through the whole thing...North Penn Mazda is my new dealership  (drinks)
Thanks to them, I finally have some confidence in my purchase...

How do you remove?

Are they just the two bolts holding them in there? Or do you have to jack the car up to get pressure off of bar? Sorry but never did a sway bar before, but going to do tape idea of newfs

Scott or StL,
Do you guys have the part number for the pieces that ere replaced? I have a terrible time getting dealers in my area to return calls, and I would like to be able to give them the number.
As for bad service, I have called 3 times in the last week to get a shop manual (required for national SCCA event next month), and have had ZERO returned calls with answers. Mazda dealers in Indy suck.

I will post the part number this afternoon, They got the tie bars and bushings in on thursday, I took it in and they had it for 2 hours, in the mean time they changed the oil and put the new parts on. I have a great Mazda Dealer. Still today I dont hear the clunk, thunk or whatever it sounded like.

And check this out, the guy that aligned my car after the Ground controls I put on, he took some paint and marked where I need to put the coilovers back to when ever I decide to change height, so that I can go back to the correct height for the alignment. www.Championexperience.com is the dealer.

Stabilizer bushings

hey cj I think this the right part number BN7H-28-156C hope this helps. My dealer replaced both bushing and the problem is gone so far but I know members on the board have had many problems.

good luck!!!

Yes, cj, they certainly do. And the one in bloomington (where I used to live) sucks as well. What we need is the part # for the shop manual. Anyone got it?????????????????? The other option would be to just go straight to the parts department, and order the manual like any other part.
The guys in PARTS (but not the salesfolk) at Royal Chevy/Mazda in bloomington are super cool. They let me order a part to fix something myself that might have otherwise voided the warranty (stupid mistake on my part). I would call parts down there and order it to be sent to their shop. They could then ship it to you. I cant remember the name of the guy I deal with.....
