So i walk out to my car today, and someone was nice enough to hit my driver side mirror. The entire back casing was gone.(getsome)
They were nice enough to dispose of the entire casing and put the mirror back in place. Now i have a mirror with no back cover, as if i would have never noticed. (glare)
So after much flipping out...i call the dealership and they told me that they can not order it since the paint for the laser blue is not available yet. Not to mention that he was unable to find a part # for just the casing. He said i should try looking in a junkyard and see if someone would paint to match.

Either that or order the entire mirror for almost $300.:wtf:
This sound crazy or what?
any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry to hear of your unfortunate incident. If it's gonna cost you 300 just for a stock mirror, you should just get a better mirror. Maybe the M3 mirror would be nice.

It might not help but try to think on the positive side of things. For example, I hate my stock speakers and I know I shouldn't buy new speakers right now because of my budget. However, I really turn it up not caring if it blows out. That'll just give me a really good reason to buy speakers. In your case, maybe that gives you an opportunity to by mirrors that look sleeker and is a lot quieter. Our stock mirrors are a little loud.

Thanks i appreciate it...i thought of that, but that also means getting 2 mirror's $600 +. I dont have $60 to spare right now...let alone $600.

Junk yard is going to be your best best. You can search for used autoparts on google and let the junk yards search for you. Is that color the same as the MP3 blue? If so, you can try searching for those also. I guess another thing you could do is find a used mirror of an lesser model protege in flat black. I've noticed that some of the dx models have unpainted mirrors. Buy two and just wait for the paint to be available or love the stealth flat black look. At least you'll match on both sides. I don't know if the dx mirrors are power, but you may be able to use just the casing from them.

I was unlucky enough to have someone put his chevy truck bumper into my rear driver side door at a restaurant when my car was only a month old. This must have been the nicest guy in the world as he searched me out in the restaurant and gave me his contact info. He ended up paying almost $1000 to have the door skin replaced and the whole side of the car painted.

Had someone do the samething on one of my old high school beaters. And you know what? He actually left a note etc, I called him and it was a peaceful outcome. I was not upset cause he actually took responsablity for his actions.

But shouldnt your insurance company atleast pick up some of the bill? Or is it not over your dect. yet?

Say go with a junkyard one, get a paint match.

In Texas, if the accident happens on private property, I don't think the other guy's insurance company is going to pay. Either yours does or you can take him to small claims court, if you have their info.

For something as minor as this, it's best to just fork over the money. After your insuance deductible, they would probably only end up paying a small ammount and you would be stuck with the rest, plus having the claim put on your record.

Guess it depends on your coverage, I only have a $50 and they really do not care to much about a claim being recorded. Has not gone up and actually drop even with some claims.

damn that is screwed up.

I remember once I hit a car w/ my old 240sx, and I waited in the parking lot for an hour(at a wal mart) God damn the guy couldn't even speak english. So he called me, I came up with cash and he sent me this letter in spanish and i had to translate it. He was really nice, i thought he was going to be an asshole.
