This is my car not a Protoge, but hey?

i wish you would have been selling your svt in december. i looked and looked for one but couldn't find anything with low miles or that had not been ragged out. really love those cars and i am a ford man deep down.

Thanks for the replies! I love the car also, however I need something that is more practical for living where there is snow. It's not that you "can't" drive the thing in the winter, I just don't want to because I like the thing so much. If I sell it, I know I will regret it, but I have to do what I feel is the right thing to do. With 2 insurance payments, having to pay for a garage to keep it in and store it, and really wanting to buy a house, I have to do it. So if you guys/girls know anyone looking for one please drop them a line or have them get in touch with me. If someone would make me a decent offer, I would probably take it. Thanks Again!;)

Good car, but just not my style. Looks to "run of the mill". Sucks that you love it but must sell it. :-(

that car may look run of the mill but it's performance is anything but. from what i have read about the SVT contour the folks at SVT did a great job making it handle and stop. it is like the ultimate sleeper car. if you can find it, there is a great article from car and driver where they tested it against a M3, S4, and i think a GTi. it kicked ass.

I always wanted one since they came out, and I traveled out of state to get a green one. I like the green because it isn't as common as the other colors. As for performance, a lot of magazines didn't give it the times 0-60, etc. that it deserved. Kooldino, if I let you drive it for an hour, you would want it. I GAURANTEE it! I remember reading that article about the car in C&D and yes, it did fair very well. Here is a link I have off-hand about the car.

yeah, i like those SVT contour's. my sister has one. she drives it year round with a good set of snows on it. a bad thing about driving in the winter: she had it parked on the road and a plow hit it. destroyed the rear quarter panel. she also wants to get rid of hers, but only because it has been in the shop to have almost everything fixed on it. it has gone through 3 catalytic converters, 5 o2 sensors, check engine lights for no reason, alignment issues, brake issues. but, you can't beat the performance. she let me take it out once, and i smoked the front tires in the first three gears. handles like it's on rails.

personally, i would never want one. after driving it, i hated the interior ergonomics. seats were uncomfortable, i could never get the seat-pedals-steering wheel into a comfortable position. rear seat have less room that the back seat in an eclipse, and the contour is a four door! outside looks too goofy, too.

First of all don't take this the wrong way because that isn't how it is meant to be. Maybe your sister should have bought a good exhaust for hers the first time something went bad with it because cats aren't that cheap. To me it seems like she either got a lemon, the car is beat to hell (hence smoked tires in first 3 gears), or the dealer/repair shop is taking your sister to the cleaners. What year was hers because for the 99 and up a lot of changes were made for quality and performance, and did she buy it used? I disagree about the seats being uncomfortable. As for the back seats, they are small, but not nearly as small as an Eclipse. I can't even sit up straight in a Eclipse's back seats, but in my tour I can. What don't you like about the outside of my car? I know why you think the outside is goofy, it's because you are so used to only seeing the rear of it, J/K:p

dude, relax! i was only giving MY opinon of the car. all the times it needed to get it fixed, she didn't have to pay for anything. (warranty) i think hers is a 98, but i am not 100% sure. i do know she only paid $18k for it brand new, and the sticker said $22k or something close to that. the car is definitly not beat to hell. if anything, she does not drive it the way it should be. (again, my opinion)

That is why I said don't take it the wrong way. She got a hell of a deal on it, I wonder if it was a dealer "demo" car, or had been sitting on their lot for a long time because I know that they aren't supposed to go even close to that low. As for smoking the tires in all three gears. I would be lucky to smoke them into 3rd, but I think that is because of my tires. If I had some cheap tires that would definately be a different story. I apologize for coming off the way you think I did, but it truely wasn't meant to be that way. That is why I said right away "don't take it the wrong way" No hard feelings, everyone has their opinion.

no problem, man. i'm always quick to forgive.

yeah, she got a hell of a deal, that's why she got it. the other car she was looking at was a turbo awd eclipse, but the dealers she went to couldn't (or wouldn't) get her one, and wanted to sell her a base model that looked like the awd version. anyway, the contour was sitting on the lot for a few months when she went in, and they wanted to unload it. only had 80 miles on it when she got it.
