I have to buy new tires because of a paper clip size hole on one of my tire (side wall). I used fix a flat, but it's causing balacing issue while driving high speed. it only had 7500 miles

America's Tires doesn't have any more OEM tires, so I bought 2 Kumo (sp)

side wall holes are the worst. its a tire guys worst nightmare to try to balance a tire with fix a flat in it. i wont say impossible but ive never seen it done and im in the tire business.

i dont understand fix a flat unless in an emergency. after all, a can of the good s*** runs around like 7 bucks if im not mistaken, and it costs 10 bucks to get it fixed (most of the time). if the fix a flat doesnt work, tough s***, but if the tire place cant fix a tire they wont charge you. and if the tire place cant fix it with a patch and whatnot, neither will the fix a flat. in conclusion, fix a flat is worthless.

That's good to know. I sometimes keep a small amount of fix-a-flat and never knew it would screw if I wanted to have it properly repaired....To the doughnut!

also, heathen, a lot of places wont work on your s*** if you have fix a flat in it, because its highly toxic and they dont want it spewing out at them. of course you dont have to tell them, but that would be kinda ****** up lol.

Damn I love the forum, learn something new everyday. Didn't know that because I've had all of 2 flats in 9 years of driving and they were complete cut downs in both cases.

only reason i found that out, was because i recently had a slow leak. i went to buy some fix a flat and it was almost as expensive. and when i asked if about bringing in the tire after, they wanted to charge me an extra ten for fixing a tire with fix a flat in it. i dont know if all these places are like that, but i was like f it, ill just pay the ten bucks and wait for it to get fixed with a patch.

yea i was in the tire busness for 3 years (kauffman tire) they do flat repairs for free. but charge $15 if the tire has fix-a-flat. but please do us a favor DONT USE fix-a-flat. its the worst ting you can to to a tire it eats the inside of the tire if left too long. and its a PITA to get out!

yeah, but if you are stranded in the middle of new mexico, 100 miles from anything and you have used your spare already........who gives a s*** if the tire man doesnt like to clean the tire out, that is why it is an emergency item:D

i got a hole in my side wall with 2500 miles on the car. i had to shell out 200$ the first month i owned the car. I was heated.
