This ECU fix/o2 Simulator DOES NOT WORK!!!

I got it today, and it simply does not fit. No, im not an idiot. Its for a Grand Prix and WILL NOT fit. I have to send it back and order the ECU fix from Apex motorsports, as they are the only people to make the fix for our car.

Their fix is a resistor based fix, and quoted from Ben this is how it works:

When your CEL comes on your car reverts to stock fuel mapping, no matter what you have installed, so you are not getting the full potential from your mods (like when you reset your ECU to get it to "learn" the new mods). This fix will turn off the CEL, allowing you to reset the ECU and re-learn with the mods you have installed, allowing you to get your full potential. This is especially true when your mods are completely to do with air/fuel, like intake, header, exhaust, no cats, like mine.

If you have ordered this product based on that other thread, i suggest you attempt to cancel the order before you get the product, or wait and send it back with a note saying that it will not fit to the same address with the top line reading: ATTN: Returns.

Here is Apex Motorsports in Tempe, AZ. Their fix is meant for the protege, and requires some wire splicing, which im sure is not hard. We'll see how this works, and ill add to this thread when i get it.

Bump. I have Apex's product on my car. Very simple installation. And HOLY s*** speed delivery. Plus no more CEL.

I guess you should've asked LinuxRacr which one he found. I'm not convinced a resistor is good enough for OBD-II cars, but I could be wrong.

ben seems to be very knowledgable on the subject, and is recommended by two other people at least on this board...so im gonna see how it goes, and let everyone know once i get it - i should have it by saturday at the absolute latest.

Cool. So what was the deal. The new sensor just wouldn't fit in the second O2 bung? I suppose you could've just drilled it out a bit or something, but whatever.

Finally someone is using this. I kept asking the FI guys that had no cats what they were doing about the CEL they got and I found the Pony Express website.

I contacted the guys and asked them if they could make an eliminator for the Protege and they asked me some specs about our O2 wires and said that it should be the same eliminator as they use for the WRXs.

I'm glad people are using it and the Pony guy didn't think I was just wasting his time. Sweet (thumb)


edit: So yeah, the Pony guy was really cool and since it seems like it works you should all try it out.

I made my own O2 Simulator for my MSP with the APEX downpipe...no cats....I do not get any CEL's.
