Thinking hard about replacing my MS3 with...

I'd rather have the MS3 to drive around. It's more usable as a vehicle, doesn't attract a lot of retarded attention on the road from cops or people who want to race, and the only time I'm feasibly going to make use of the performance difference between the two cars is on a track.

+1K

You nailed it exactly - all very good points. I love the new 370Z but any car with only two seats, two doors, RWD, and no hatch is marginally useful transportation and then there is the retard attention factor. All very good points IMO. The Pontiac while a cool idea and an arguably nice looking car....... is still a damn PONTIAC. Personally my wallet will never get near anything made by GM or Chrysler. I especially hate GM cars with all of my soul. Just makes me think "shake and bake baby!" and mullets and trucker hats and retard redneck Cooter folk. I can't stand them. Sorry for the rant or offending anyone who owns a bitchin Camaro or Firebird.

it's sad that you're a vehicular racist. you're only hurting yourself by excluding a car just because of the badge it has on the front.

I can't imagine any other car that can go this fast and be this sexy for such a small amount of money but will let me use it for daddy duties when my wife and I start having kids.

Really? Well you might be right, but it doesn't hurt much and based on what's in the news lately, I may not have to exclude them for much longer. There are a lot of nice cars on the market today and a lot of great brands. GM just rubs me the wrong way I guess. I seem to have indelibly associated their cars with people and philosophies I don't care for. I am indifferent to Chrysler.

The G8 GXP is getting the best reviews GM has ever gotten for any of their cars in that price range. If it's being compared to, and quite favorably I must say, the 5-series, it's a huge leap forward. And don't forget the CTS and CTS-V that ripped a new one to the current M5. GM is no longer a GM as you know it.

It's probably too little, too late for GM. They should've been gearing up their passenger car lineup back when the money was flowing and SUVs were selling. They are so reactive instead of proactive.

Pontiac in particular is on its last legs, I think that's scaring potential G8 buyers. I can't remember the last time a significant Pontiac car was released that wasn't a rebadged Chevy or Holden.

yep. and i think the G8 would have sold much better 2-3 years ago.

when was the last time a pontiac was released that wasn't a rebadged something? i don't think it's been in my lifetime

oh yea i guess that was in my lifetime :) not many other mid-engined platforms floating around to steal that from so that's gotta be a pontiac original

Well after being out of town for three weeks, I finally got to catch up on this thread... Interesting side tracks going on in here....

Anyway, the Camaro is still in the running for #1. I haven't seen anything yet to cause me to replace it. I did look at the G8 GXP, as they are priced very closely, but the 2 SS is still taking the cake. This all depends on the test drive and what it looks like in person of course.

Think of it this way, you'll be buying an American Icon with a great engine, tons of torque, rear wheel drive, and better driving dynamics than any production Camaro made in history.

if you haven't ordered one already, chances are you won't be getting one until next year, or at least october 09 the earliest. maybe you can get lucky to find a dealer that has allocations left and is not charging a markup, but i doubt it.

right now they're building 14k sold pre-orders and 6,000 dealer showroom cars.

actuall block is different than in evo X......its like in ralliart so its not that great as everyone thought....its gona be cheap so every kid is gona have one

plus if you're into heavy modding an LS engine is a much better starting point, even if it was the evo block. the only downside is the higher cost of entry

however the OP said he's not going to mod

I would go to the junk yard, buy a shell, order a motor and build it. You'll get more satisfaction and power that way. Make it 50/50 awd with ability to run as rwd only as well.

screw the camaro, bring back the 2nd gen firebird trans am :D

Thanks for the the input everyone. I am not looking to upgrade until late this year anyway. The girlfriend is going to be getting my Speed3 as her upgrade.

Also...just a reminder to all that posted about modded this or modded that... No mods... No mods... No mods! Stock only. I have been there and done that with a modded G35. It was a great car, but an absolute pain in my ass to maintain.
