Thinking about re-stitching seats and steering wheel!

im sorry but my steering wheel is 200 bucks im not covering it up with a 5 dollar pos from walmart...

Who said anything about a $5 POS from Walmart? Read the second post in this thread about what I meant by "cover". So what if they are worth $200? You ever priced quality aftermarket wheels? A cover would protect your precious $200 wheel anyway. Have you seen what happens to leather that is touched over time? (look at your wallet, and older cars with leather seats and steering wheels). That sure doesn't help car value.

So you would be willing to dye the stitching in place on the factory wheel, but not willing to cover and protect the wheel and leave it stock? (laugh).

Wait, your stitching matches your car. Why would you even need/want to change that?

Okay, I thought you had an aftermarket steering wheel because you stated it is $200. I don't usually count what is in the car factory as money I guess. Wait that came out wrong. I guess I don't normally say well my seats were this much, my stereo this much, my steering wheel this much unless they are aftermarket.
I may get a cover for it....but I kinda wanted to do something different than just a cover. I wanted to do a theme with my car. Kinda stock, kinda not.
Oh and I know that most guys aren't all about lotion and stuff, but if you would like to keep it looking kinda nice. Use lotion (non-fragrance) everyday and it will help to condition the leather. Also get some UVB protectant. That will help. Hell nowadays you can UVB lotion. All in one shot. Smooth hands for your chicks (yesssss we like smooth hands tooooooo) and a little bit extra for your real woman (your car).

Okay so going back to the steering wheel cover -
Where can you find a good steering wheel cover?
All I have seen look cheap. Even the wheel skins don't do it for me.
Give me some ideas!!!! Please!!!

the leather on the steering wheel is conditioned differently than the leather on your wallet or other items that it was compared to here. therefor it comes with the fact in mind that a driver should have his hands on the wheel at almost all times so I believe they factor in normal wear and it isnt going to turn to crap in under 2-4 yrs without you treating it like crap.

I say go for the die idea you had and then just keep the wheel conditioned weekly, I know for my old jag, jaguar had specific leather conditioner, different from the older jags which was my back seat and the new ones (I had swapped 2002 xjr front seats). I dont even take care of the jag anymore since I gave it to my brother and just sitting in the az heat it looks just fine now since its last condition almost 2 yrs ago.

Anyway if in 3-5 yrs your wheel does where out you just have an excuse to go and get a MOMO wheel of your choice off ebay for 150-300bux.

edit: oh yah im biased that anything MOMO is the best.

does anyone have more information on dying the steering wheel stitching, that sounds like it might be a good idea.. i wanna go to leather.

hey go into a good shoe shop, they might have some good info on a way to do it well - other wise your gonna drive ya car and have black hands for months!!
