PROTEGE GONE!
I was thinking about re-stitching my seats and steering wheel with a different color than the orange that is currently in there. What I am wondering is - has anybody done this before???
If so how hard was it and what type of thread is utilized???

You and me both buddy... I hate the yellow stiching on my Titanium car.

I was going to try a local upolstory shop to see what they would chage. I can't imagine it being too crazy. I am probably just going to get a whole new steering wheel cover w/ leather to keept his one clean and new looking also.

u need to talk to ... s***.. whats his name i think he lives in... dayumiti cant remember but he has the picture of the protege interior completely removed as his signature pic... he can tell ya.. he had baught the msp seats and had them rethreaded...

What I did was buy MSP covers. My interior is black and silver so the orange stitching had to go. I pulled the stitching out myself and then brought the covers to the upholstery shop to stitch the new silver. He basically went where the stock stitching was. Front head rests I left all black. Then I had the upholstery shop put the covers back on because they had the experience and proper tools to fit the covers back on right. If you look closely his skills are not as good as stock but damn near close. Super mod IMO.

edit - BTW...cost was $100 for stiching including reinstallation

Good looking out to pro5man for PMing me to this thread, that's what the protege community is all about. Bros helping bros :D

Nice idea... :shakesheadupanddowninapproval:

Thanks a lot Witchdoktor!!!!
I am still trying to decide 100% on this. Plus I would have to find a place that could do it around here.
Nice seats! I do like the way it looks!!!!

I bet it wouldn't be too much to have a shop just rip out the old stitching and put something else in.

If I have time this week I'll see what I can come up with in my area for an idea.

its only like 10 cents per 100 stitches i believe something like thats its really not all that expensive.. i dunno if you guys remember but jeremy aka (mp5raycer) had the mazda logo stitched on his stock seats and it only cost somethign like 10 dollars and it was a fairly huge logo the was embroidered on his seats.

Oh yeah, about the steering wheel stitching, it was suggested to me to try and dye it while it is on. Just apply dye and then wipe off what ever gets on the leather. I don't know if I am too comfortable with that idea though.

well i'd rather take my chances dying it than to have someone rip up the 200$ steering wheel trying to rethread it... thats just me tho..
